220 Sundeck Thread - Questions and Answers

Hi All. Haven't posted yet on this thread, so I'll announce I'm the pround new owner of a 2006 220 Sundeck. Plan to get it out a few times before I tuck it away for its long winter nap here in New Jersey.

Looking forward to feeling the difference between the smaller hulled 176 SRX and this new Sundeck.

For those that have not yet found it, have a look at the 210 Sundeck thread for a neat mod on the Carry-on Cooler that allows access w/out fully removing the cooler from the locker. Also some good grill info on that thread.

Cheers!

I like the cooler mod eventhough it is possible to open the cooler on the 220 while it is in the storage locker.

Who here has a grill on their 220? I am thinking about mounting one by the wet bar. Any thoughts?

Another mod. I have been thinking about is adding a couple of courtesy lights. Any one ever do this?

This fall I purchased a Sub-woofer (10" Kenwood). This will me my first mod in the spring. I have also thought about modding the deck drain the dumps into the bilge. I would like to add a through hull fitting and dump the deck water into the lake.

We have a 2005 200 Sundeck and it is great for my wife and I to unload and load on the trailer. Enough room when we take guest out on the water.
we just cannot get enough summer.

How do you like your camper canvas? I really want to buy the panels this spring. We were caught on St. Clair a few times in the rain and having this canvas would have made our day much better! I don't mind being wet, but when it's 60 deg. out, it sucks :(

What lake do you launch on typically?

Another mod that I already made was the smart tabs. Believe me, they made a HUGE difference on this boat. Now she rides like a much larger boat. my father has a 33' Carver (boo) and I feel that my boat is comperable in handling in rough seas.

Hello Fellow 220 SD'ers. Time to dust off this thread. Just found that there was a thread here for the 220 SD. Just bought mine in aug of 08, and had it out just a few times. It is a '03 with 118 hrs on it. It was a repo. Love the boat, and can't wait to take it to Lake Norfork in Arkansas in July. Looking forward to hearing from other 220 SD owners.

JR861,

Congrats on the purchase. I think you'll really enjoy the new ride. I am sure that the 240 contingent here will tell you that you should have gotten the bigger rig! I am very happy with my 220. We looked at the 240 but couldn't justify the price difference at the time. But sometimes it would have been nice to have the extra 1000 or so pounds...

Thanks, unlvrebel. Looked at the 240, and could have gotten one at the right price, but I live on a pretty small lake, & the 240 would have been pretty large for it. I also like to visit other larger lakes, & the 240 is quite a tow. I really love the layout, and all the extra room I have over my previous boat (Ebbtide 182). I do wish I had the BIII instead of the alpha. but, overall a very nice ride.

Good to see everyone posting on this thread again. Begun to notice a issue that keeps popping up with my boat. It's kind of small compared to most, but for some reason the door latch on the head seems to break every two months. Anyone else been having this problem? Any ideas on how I can fix this problem so it doesn't continue to happy. Thanks in advance for the advice.

I almost went with the 220 because I would not have had to get a new tow vehicle. Finally decided on the 240 do to the fact that I wanted to go on big/open water. The 220 would have been the perfect size for our local lake, but too small for some of the open/big water I go on.

If you can find one, these rubber latches did the trick for keeping the seat down and locked in place. I also put one on my head door because if it has not yet the door lock will fail and it is $300.00 to replace. :smt089

It's nice to see this thread getting some life again. Welcome to the 220 Club.
