    Hello All
We recently bought our first boat and being handy, I’m hoping to save a little money by installing a Chartplotter/GPS unit myself. The mounting is a no brainer, but I don’t have a clue where to connect the electrical. I’m assuming there are terminal blocks somewhere for all the cockpit electrical close by and I’m hoping there will be an open terminal available for the GPS power. I looked in the closet where the fuse box and radio sit and didn’t see the blocks in there and it doesn’t seem logical that I would have to run the wiring all the way back to the batteries. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Isn't there a hatch below the wheel with the 12V block?

It’s very possible—we bought this boat on consignment and the salesman did not go over anything on the boat with us. I’ve been searching online, user manuals, and wiring schematics, but haven’t seen a location. I will look this weekend. Thank you for the response!

I had a chance to go by the boat this evening—no obvious compartment near the steering. I attached pics to the post of the steering area as well as the compartment behind the steering where the fuse block and stereo are. Still looking for any help.

You've got two accessory circuits on the fuse block - use one of those. You have the + connection right there behind the fuse and the ground bus should be behind the fuse panel somewhere. My boat had basically the same thing, I used the accessory circuit when I added cockpit lighting.

Thanks Bill. I will look at the back of the fuse box next chance I get!

I would unscrew the radio and tap into the positive and ground.
