My 2004 Sea Ray has an alarm sounding, 2 beeps about 1minute apart at slow speeds. My temp and oil readings are normal, any ideas welcome

What do you have for a motor and outdrive?

Merc v8 5.7 with an Alpha 1 Gen 2

Check fluid reservoirs. My 2006 5.0 Alpha1 Gen 2 did something similar a few weeks back. Turns out it was the gear oil while I was headed back in. I checked it on the water and the level looked low but not low enough it should have been alarming (turns out the sensor felt differently). Going thru the gauge menu everything checked out ok but the alarm still sounded (and displayed to check engine) at idle speed and was intermittent as I throttled up & down. Filled reservoir, no alarm since. Learned even if the levels look within range visually, doesn't mean the sensor itself is ok with it being at the lower end. Or could be one of those sensors itself going out.

Thanks for info my lower unit tank alarm has been disconnected for a few years. My mechanic came on board today but alarm would not go off. He did a scan that said power steering but that fluid is also topped of so back to square 1

Do you have a 5.0L MPI engine and not the standard, carb'd model? Since you're getting the beeps like you are, I'm assuming that's correct?

The two beeps a minute means there's a sensor complaining and the only way to know for sure is to hook-up a Merc computer. FYI, your drive lube monitor bottle would have produced a different pattern. The problem is, though, there are multiple sensors that can whine - even if there isn't an actual problem. There is no sensor for the power steering pump. However, there is a sensor on the power steering oil cooler and that sensor is for water pressure. Since you have the base model 215 and not the 225, you probably don't have Smartcraft gauges - which means you can't see what the pressure is. But unless you can dive into things more with the computer, this would be a good place to start - either the sensor itself is flaky, or a worn impeller. If it's been a while since the impeller has been replaced, that's due for replacement, anyways.

Thanks that helps as drive has a lot of growth which may be causing problem even though not overheating Thanks
