just picked up a 210 with a 350 mag mercury engine. The boat is great, we are just having a problem with the prop. The boat really struggles to get out of the hole, like almost 15 seconds. Then if you trim up at all from the full down position, the prop seems to spin out. The engine revs and it feels like the prop is losing traction. The prop is a mercury vengence 19 pitch and i believe 14 inch from measuring it. Any ideas what is causing this? What size props are you guys using?

Have you checked a prop chart? That's the same prop I'm using with my 5.0L. I would think with a 350, you'd have one a bit bigger to bite with the higher HP...

from the mercury prop selector it looks like a 14.5 inch prop might be what is needed. Could a half inch be causing this problem?

For all of you 210 Select owners, here are some pics taken with my iPhone yesterday evening. It is the Sea Ray Vonore Plant where your boats were made.

I have the 350 Mag as well with a 19 Vengeance prop. You should pop right out of the hole with that. Ensure that your drive is all the way down. The hub might be spun?? The 210 with 300HP and a 19 pitch prop should offer good performance. Do some prop swapping with the dealer.

OUCH! It finally happened! We hit a rock today! My gf was driving back in towards shore to pick me up, and didn't realize it had gotten as shallow as it had. I was waving her off, with my arms, but she couldn't hear me and didn't understand what I was waving my arms about. She's very upset about it all. It dinged my Stainless prop (2 of the 3 blades have dings.) Also, it must have picked up one of the rocks somehow,(or a point of the rock) got stuck between the blade and the back of the lower unit, putting a thumbnail sized nick in the black lower unit section just in front of the prop:smt089. The bottom of the skeg also hit bottom, but damage there was just scrapes.:smt089

I'm going to take the prop off and send it in for re-working over the winter :smt089 Does anyone know if I can rebuild the thumbnail sized chip taken out of the lower unit (no other cracks that I can see). it's on the trailing edge, where it goes back to a point again.

It sounds like you are describing the skeg. This can be corrected fairly inexpensively. I just bought a 2006 Sea Ray 185 that had the same type of damage. I had the broker repair it as a condition of the sale. They told me the cost of the repair was $150.00 and I can't tell there was ever a problem. I think they just cut the skeg completely off and welded a new one on.

Yeah, the bottom of the Skeg didn't get damaged to badly, a little filing and some black paint, and it'll be fine, the part that bothers me, is the thumbnail sized chunk missing from the back of the lower unit above the prop shaft. I'm wondering if I use epoxy and/or some metal, and build it back up, and paint it, if that will work. (It's the trailing edge, so there's minimal impact, it's just that it looks bad and probably disrupts the smooth flow of water over the prop blades.) I'll post pics later when I get a chance to take them.

Ouch... I was so upset when it happened, I thought the chip was above the prop. It's down on the skeg. Any ideas on how to repair this? Would epoxy-ing in a piece of metal fill, and then paint it work? Here's picks of the skeg and prop damage. The prop damage pics aren't that great, mostly, it's just burrs on the edge of the prop. The prop spins freely, with hardly any noise internal to the lower unit.

Your skeg has the same kind of damage mine did except mine had two chunks taken out. I had the dealer repair this. They did it by cutting the skeg off and weld a new one on. I was told the cost of the repair was $150.00. I can't tell there was a repair. It looks a good as new.

If I did not want to pay for such a repair I would probably just file the jagged edges smooth and paint. I have been told that this would not effect the performance of the boat.

VTSeaRay why don't you get a Skeggard, it's about $100 but worth it, made on stainless steel, strong and easy to install right over your old skeg. Had you had one of these no way you put a hole in it like you did!

    I just bought a used 1996 21' BR Signature Select w/ 5.7LX Mercruiser Alpha.
So far I love it..... I am in Wisconsin so I won't use it for too long.

    Questions:
    - The rating sticker on the driver side says "190 BR". The serial # identifies it as 210BR, as well as dimensions and configuration. So I am sure it is a 210BR. Any clue why the sticker says 190 BR?
    - What's the supposed rating for the 210BR, with rating I mean # of people and weight.
    - The plastic cover of the CD player bay stays open. It must have had a clip glued to it that keeps it close, but it unglued and is lost. Any suggestions?
    - It came with an EZ Loader trailer. Did they come originally with this trailer, or the original one was replaced? I don't know the age of the trailer. VIN # and info has been faded from plaque.

    Thanks....
