CSR members,

The 2024 Bahamas "Flings" are now live on the www.bahamas.com/boating website. I will be hosting several of these next year and would love to see more Sea Rays join the party. The Bimini flings are great for those that want to trailer down their boats and experience a trip of a lifetime. I am still working on changes to the Grand Bahamas fling as we might be starting that one this year from Palm Beach making it easier for the Treasure Coasters to join a beginner trip to Bahamas. Sign up now as we are limited to 20 boats on each fling. Fun to be had by all.....

I wish
Can you rent a boat ?
Not that I know of down here that will allow you to take it yourself to the Bahamas. Plenty of charters with a captain but I am sure that is not what you are looking for.

I was thinking the same.

For those of us where it is not cost effective to bring our boats down.
Maybe a group charter is worth looking into, as flying in just isn't the same.
Grant, your thoughts and maybe some recommendations/links?

Man I would love to do this, just google mapped it, 1676 mile from my house to the marina in ft Lauderdale. Long way to trailer a boat.

Grant your killing me with these post's. I am ~1000 miles to PB, I keep telling myself I am going to join you. I would need a month off and re-mortgage the house to to do it, 40gal/hr at 20knt's. Long trip just to get to PB.

Awesome that you are doing these, they definitely are trips of a life time to do with your own boat.

I will keep an eye out to see if I can find any boats that could be rented for a trip over.

If you are going to do it you just need to leave it down here for a year.

Funny you say that. I am considering brining it down for next winter possibly, then I could do one of the trips with you. You posting about this and how wonderful the trips look, is what has me thinking about this.

I did bring a boat to Freeport once many years ago. But it wasn't my boat and I was to young to appreciate that trip.

Successfully did the 660 mile FLORIDA LOOP this past summer.

The Bahamas is on my bucket list, however I've been reading a good bit of real info from several sources about some serious lawlessness against boating visitors on Bimini, and how things have changed dramatically there over the past two decades.

We'd be coming over from Florida's west coast, across the ditch and would therefore be interested in more info as it develops for the group departing from Palm Beach and skipping Bimini altogether.

1996 Sea Ray 450DA

Departing with full tanks of water, fuel and provisions, we'd likely do an outbound cruise of about 20-21 kts.

Understood, I will keep you posted. I will say that crime is unfortunately rising everywhere, Bimini is a small island and the issues that have occured with with boaters were directly related to human smuggling opportunities looking for easy transportation. The one last year with the stolen center console that ended up on the beach in Miami with 20+ Haitians jumping off of it was strictly a crime of opportunity, the owner left the keys hanging in the ignition. Unfortunately these immigrants are desperate to get to the US and some of them will clearly risk their lives to do it. I have been approached before to "give a ride" to someone multiple times, this is just how it is out there. I really don't think it is any more dangerous over there than it is anywhere in Florida or usa for that matter. I feel safe over there and that is all that matters to me and my family. As far as Grand Bahama island vs Bimini, I will take Bimini 10x, Freeport is a much bigger city hence more...
