Good Evening Captains,

I purchased a '20 SPX 210 OB Mercury 150 four-stroke over the mild Florida winter. I took her out on Saturday and while there were a few things that need to be taken care of, my main concern is the Water In Fuel alarm that came on towards the end of the day.

The boat is equipped with the 5 inch Simrad touchscreen unit and vessel view, and obviously that was what displayed the alarm. When the alarm first came on, I was just going to full throttle to bring her up on plane. After a minute, maybe 2, she lost power, and would not rev past maybe 3000 RPM. I limped back to the dock going about 5 mph.

Google searches haven't been very helpful, but the most common answer is that this engine does not have a WIF sensor, and that the 2nd Fuel tank wore on the fuel harness acts like one if it gets wet. I've poked my head in the bile area, but I do not see any loose connections. I also do not see a separate separation filter.

I would like to check if there is water in the fuel, but the boat does not have a priming bulb, so I'm unsure of how to check, unless you can siphon from the filler hose.

I've posted pictures of the bilge/engine compart on Imgur here: Maybe they'll be of some help.

Thank you in advance to anyone can help!

Keith
