2020 Lake Michigan Rendezvous

I also recommend dropping the dinghy and cruising around to the west side of the island. Beach the dinghy and walk a completely deserted northern Michigan beach. Absolutely beautiful

We used to prepare lunch and putz around the entire island. One time we experienced a squall that blew through from across the lake. Glad we were not on the dingy or we would have been in trouble. The island is bigger than it looks and it takes some time to reach the safety of the anchorage.

We will be traveling right by today heading to Charlevoix
We were able to stop and say hi to eagleone, the lake was so flat that we were able to take a dinghy ride down to the south end and up the west side a little way, short on gas or we would have gone all the way around.

The flies got better around 7 so we could cook the chops on the grill. Good seeing you guys, we are back home now, the dogs where glad to see us. will try and post some pic. later.

I think we still have some of those flies on our boat, good seeing you also, hope we can see you in Milwaukee if things don’t get shut down.

The date is fast approaching. Depending on weather I still plan to shoot across to Milwaukee sometime early Friday afternoon, July 24.

I've been looking around and much of the extracurricular stuff in Milwaukee is indeed closed. The museums, kids places, brewery tours, the zoo has only opened some outside items (but at full price :)). The city is not as wide open as I was hoping. Just a tick better than Michigan from what I can gather? Though it sounds like they are less intense on the mask requirements.

I've got three kids and a new pup to entertain. I've gotta find some dog friendly beaches and outdoor restaurants to visit ASAP!

I will be there Friday night with my daughter, grandson, his buddy and my daughters dog. My dock mate, Jeff, is also going to be there and he went to school in Milwaukee. Hopefully he can provide some answers for you.

@Nepenthe can you help?

I can't say I'm having warm fuzzys burning 400+ gallons of diesel to go to Milwaukee and back with the City closed down. I'll keep you guys posted. M

I have been in Milwaukee by boat a few times in the last few weeks. There is quite a bit open bar and restaurant-wise depending on what you are looking for.

* The bars and restaurants on Brady Street are open for business indoors and outdoors.
* The bars and restaurants in the Third Ward are open for business indoors and outdoors (The Rooftop at the Kimpton Journeyman is one of my favorites).
* Elsa's on the Park is open for great appetizers, burgers, and sandwiches.
* Lakefront Brewery isn't giving tours, but their tasting room and outdoor patio are open by reservation.

I am sure there are several others, but these are the ones I have been to recently.

Thanks for the updates!!

I chatted with the DNR yesterday and was told that the Lakeshore State Park Marina was still open. Rumor has it McKinley is closed however so you may have to go the Port Washington, Sheboygan or Racine for fuel.

Looks like 1' on the east side by South Haven to < 1' by Kenosha on Friday... Should be smooth rides!

Looking forward to seeing everyone this weekend.

We are heading over Thursday to Port Washington for the night meet some friends and go fishing for the night. Just checked and McKinnly is open.

We still plan on heading over Friday. Can someone confirm if the fuel dock is open at McKinnly?

I just freed up a slip if anyone else was looking for reservations. Sorry to miss you all, would have enjoyed it.

Next year.
