2015 Great Lakes Ice Updates

No ice on West side of Lake Michigan but, nasty wind snow sleet storm today. Thankfully it is all melting. We will launch closer to May. The 10 day forecast here is still showing temps below 60F.

I launch this week in southern Georgian Bay. Won't be going anywhere for a while, however we'll be on the boat this weekend!

Munising Bay opened up over the weekend.:smt038 A month ahead of last year.
A big 15 to 20 foot tall ridge of sand covered ice is still hanging on along the shore from here to Marquette.
Hoping for a splash the first weekend of May, may need to watch for a few icebergs though.

Friday ride to Marquette looking toward the city.
Hard to judge how big the ridge really is in the picture without a known object.

Today's ride back from Marquette in between snow storms - near Au Train:

Did the sea trial on my new boat this past Monday so I've got my first boat ride in for the year. It was not very nice though, rainy and windy

We splashed yesterday afternoon - went straight to the slip - too cold and windy for any type of boat ride. Got her tied up and plugged in and will finish provisioning this weekend and if the weather improves, go for our first boat ride.
