2015 24’ Sea Ray 240 SDX Outboard

My under mount 3 step swim ladder broke this past weekend. The horizontal bar’s (that holds the ladder vertical under load) welds broke due to corrosion.

Garelick makes this ladder exclusively for Sea Ray and doesn’t sell it direct. My dealer has it for $350. Garelick ladders usually cost around $100. The Garelick model# is 19623-84 and the Sea Ray model # is 2128947.

Has anyone figured out which Garelick ladder available everywhere is the same as the model only offered through Sea Ray?

Thanks,

WhaleNate

I just mounted a generic under platform ladder and encountered unforeseen issues. It may be safest to stick with a replacement.

What are the warranty terms and conditions on the Garelick ladders?

I did maintain the ladder when the boat was out of the water in the Fall. Unfortunately the boat is docked in salt water from April to November. The under mount design is not the best setup for our boat usage.

Little useable space may be left if you go to a top mount. Maybe you could put some anodes on your new ladder. Better to ask someone as corrosion is an arcane science.

I bought a 5 step under mount ladder in order to get the wider step. The bottom 2 steps are lashed together by the lanyard currently. A lanyard is required to pull and compress the ladder. Getting it centered was tricky as the pins are held in place by 1/2" plastic hockey pucks which keep the ladder aligned. Anyway, the primary problem once it was in the water was that the swimmer had insufficient purchase to unlatch or latch the ladder. This was solved by removal of the 3" coil springs inside each of the tops of the legs. Just remove the hockey pucks, pull the pins and pop out the springs. The springs are there to make sure the latch doesn't come loose unexpectedly. A few turns of the lanyard should be an adequate safety while trailering. I also screwed a chunk of welcome mat to the platform as friction material as I tended to slide off. This is the alternative boat to the Searay but having a long ladder with big steps is actually superior. $145.00
