2015-16 Football thread - any team banter welcome.

Or fans with an interest in analytics. And no they have not proven they can whip azz of strong teams until they beat the best teams that are perennially in the finals and Super Bowl...

I stand by my prediction....it's not even going to be close....it will only be a good game if your a Panthers fan.......if I'm wrong you can berate me here......I don't think I will be tho.

As much as I'd like to see Denver win it I think Do Over has it nailed.

I think the Panthers D-line is going to repeatedly get to the backfield and sack Peyton numerous times. If they do that they'll take him out of his game and all the "Omaha's" in the world won't make them win the game.

Panthers 38, Broncos 24

Super Bowl week is here. Time for football picks and banter.

I like...

Ron Rivera and the Panthers that gave him time to build a SB team.

The Broncos D.

Peyton Manning getting a chance to go out on top.

Don't like.

Newton's over the top celebrations and taking opposing fans flags etc. (feel the same about ANY similar choreographed dance celebrations)

John Fox getting fired. (By the Broncos last season)

Peyton Manning playing next year.

You threw me for a loop there. I just verified John Fox is still the coach of the Chicago Bears.

By the Broncos. He and Elway built this Broncos team, not Kubiak. He deserved better. This point is a complete 180 from the Panthers point that they kept Rivera when many teams would have moved on. It takes between 4-5 years for a coach to get his players and culture established to be a consistent playoff contender with a chance for a SB. This Cleveland plan of a new coach every 48 hours (blatant exaggeration) is never going to work...

I am from Wisconsin and live in the San Francisco Bay Area. Gives me three good teams to rout for, and none of them are in the hunt.
I did like the Panthers answer to complaints about their fiesty over the top 'corriographed' celebrations. "Don't like them? Keep us out of the inzone"

How about acting like an adult instead of an attention starved 4 year old? Act like you have scored a TD before and you just did your job that you get millions to do.

And ripping flags, signs, or jerseys from fans of opposing teams is wrong for any player. If you don't want them in, have your fans buy the tickets and come to the game, not sell them for profit?

Newton acts like he got into the end zone all on his own with no one else's help. He needs to watch guys like Russell Wilson. With Wilson it's never about what he did, it's always about the team and the great game the other players had.

Newton is a talented athlete but he sucks pond scum as a human being.

that would mean more if you were actually friends with him instead of believing what the media portrays.......sour grapes in my opinion....who says ANYONE has to act the way you (or anyone else for that matter) thinks they should...he's including the fans and his team mates in his celebrations. Little to much PC paranoia going on here IMO.......the Panthers are going to clean the Broncos clocks (the fact that Peyton is still their QB isn't going to help much) he's old and robotic...he'll be lucky to make it thru the game.

Panthers....by a BUNCH.

Why would it mean more? I don't know him personally but I am entitled to my opinion of his public persona. I'm sure someone loves his personality both public and private, but that does not change the public persona HE has put out there is not liked by many people. Others with a similar persona issue would include Belichick, Sherman, Lynch, to name a few. Others seem to have a public persona much of the public loves, the poster child for that is Manning, while Wilson is moving up.

Manning's public persona is so loved by the public that he will make more in endorsements for years after he retires than Cam will playing...

I dont think it's difficult to understand (be the way if you think his persona isn't subject to the media your delusional which I know your not)...of course your entitled to your opinion but that's all it is....an opinion....and probably an unsubstantiated one if looked further than the surface.....I'd much rather be in your "persona issue" group and be doing a fantastic job AT my job than be in the "doing it the way that someone I couldn't care less about thinks I should" group. As far as talking about earnings...big deal....they're both going to end up with more money than they deserve .....and if I see one more goofy ass Manning commercial I'm gonna chuck something at the TV. I'm hoping he gets his ass handed to him and he FINALLY retires.

gonna be a good game if your a Panthers fan

You better get a big box of stuff to chuck as you will see a lot of PM TV ads for years to come.

Another example is Terrell Owens, what an attention grabber. Now he has leapfrogged Issac Bruce and Terry Holt and is a finalist in the Hall Of Fame process. Mike Martz said "T.O. is ahead of Holt and Bruce not because of stats but because of the attention Owens drew to himself. Martz thinks Bruce and Holt were humble guys, and that’s being held against them."

Like both of those guys and can't stand TO...

agreed...I'm a huge Holt/Bruce fan being from St.Louis....shoot....gotta go...the meeting of the Everything Mannings Haters Club is starting and I'm bringing the chips and salsa...good talking to ya.

What I don't understand is why we care so much about how other people act that we have to talk about it so much. This Cam Newton thing is just the "fill the gap" discussion between Conference Final weekend and SB. Last year it was Deflategate.

Personally, if they're having a good time, why is it such a big deal. Wilson, Newton, Rodgers, Palmer...all have their way to celebrate success. Leave 'em alone and let them do it.

Mark, I guess it's because many people hold these athletes up to be their heroes and expect them to act with a certain amount of decorum.

An example: Look at Russell Wilson at his post-game conferences. He's showered, dressed in a suit, humble and politely answering even the dumbest questions thrown at him and giving credit to his team mates.

Cam, on the other hand, comes out with a towel over his head and his "IT'S ALL ME, IT'S ALL ME" attitude.

I don't enjoy defending Cam, but you obviously dont know Cam. Do Over is right. Cam gives a lot of credit to the Panthers team. But I guess you would only know that if you watched local Charlotte tv. It's almost like politics these days. The NFL and media just want to piss folks off because it seems to generate passion and MONEY.
However, there are plenty of local folks that don't like his showboating either. Myself, I'm indifferent as long as it's done in fun. Would I rather he conducted himself alittle more conservative, sure. But hell, he/they are finally winning...and happy....works for me.
I fully agree what was said about the racism remarks though...stunned me.

Waa, waa, waa..... He's still a dick. And for the record, why would I want to be friends with an a-hole.

I won't be watching the game because of his lack of class....unless someone calls me and says Denver is winning.

Just an observation but I think there are two kinds of sports fans on the planet...

Those who are appalled by players that have to "jerk themselves off" every time they make a play and those who don't care if they do.

Sour grapes much? I just wonder how deep your hate for Newton would be if the Seachickens beat them... I agree that Wilson conducts himself professionally but it almost seems rehearsed sometimes. He is probably a good guy and I wouldn't mind him behind center for the Niners but be careful about the pedestal you put him on. I hope he stays humble since the NFL needs more like him, Frank Gore, Barry Sanders, etc.
