2015-16 Football thread - any team banter welcome.

It's a classic case of "F*ck Up, Move Up"......or.....The Peter Principle is alive and well in the NFL.

Remember the Superbowl where the Steelers supposedly beat the Seahawks? Remember there were several questionable calls made by the refs in that game, who of which turned the game around and essentially gave the game to the Steelers?

NFL Referee Bill Leavy, the ref who made two of the questionable calls that, even he admits, turned the tide of the game and gave the win to the Steelers. Well guess what. True to form in the NFL where you can F*uck a lot and it doesn't matter, is promoting him into a supervisory role.

Here's an article where you can read all about it.

Apparently the Peter Principle is alive and well in the NFL.

DEFINITION of 'Peter Principle'
An observation that in an organizational hierarchy, every employee will rise or get promoted to his or her level of incompetence. The Peter Principle is based on the notion that employees will get promoted as long as they are competent, but at some point will fail to get promoted beyond a certain job because it has become too challenging for them. Employees rise to their level of incompetence and stay there. Over time, every position in the hierarchy will be filled by someone who is not competent enough to carry out his or her new duties.

(SOUND FAMILIAR?)

Read both articles just a couple more yahoo's spouting off, they know nothing more than anyone else does about what's going on inside. Has any of the experts talked about the off season and what has been going on with the team prior to the OTA's not many just a few clips in print or tv, nationally. The OTA's are not the first time the Hawks have practiced as a team, in April Wilson contacted all the offensive players like he has done every year since being the starting QB for a 1 week practice 1 week vacation in Hawaii all expenses paid by Wilson including paying for their wives, girl friends & kids. This year was different than the past couple years he also included the whole defense, not all could show but most of the starters were there.

Wilson explained why he choose Hawaii over California this year he wanted all the attention to be on building the teams confidence back up not to let one loss in the SB define him or the team without the distraction of a media circus.

Does this sound like a player that is planning on up and leaving? There are only 3 starting players listed as no shows at the OTA's Wilson isn't one of them. He has been at the vmac (that's the Hawks practice facility on the shores of Lake Washington) almost everyday since the SB except when he had other commitments just like during the season he is usually the first one there & the last to leave.

All the noise being made is coming from the press with the heads up their arse for inside knowledge NOT Wilson or the Hawks. Russell knows he will be compensated well however it goes we'll see.

GO HAWKS !!!!!!!!

I think the whole thing is interesting. Now is the time most teams would sign Wilson. He has a baseball agent instead of a NFL experienced agent and they just sent the Seahawks a 16 page letter concerning the contract talks.

I do not think Wilson will accept Newton money now nor do I think Seattle would offer Newton money now. That is a big gulf...

Wonder which teams will make a run for Wilson if he becomes available?

P.S. Luck is a first round pick so his contract window is different than Wilson, it is next year.

4 games upheld. Dang it's hard to be a Pats fan.

How about we get a dedicated thread for the Patriots haters to spew their crap and leave this thread about football?

Great idea, a dedicated sports cheaters thread. Armstrong and Brady conversation all the time.

I am sick of the term "hater". Got anything better than name calling folks discussing a team with a proven history of cheating? I certainly am not a Patriot "hater". If the money was on the table for a one game win it all NFL game, Belichick would be my choice of coach. He is probably the GOAT (greatest of all time) but is such a control freak he crosses the line and cheats.

I would just like to get back to football. I really don't believe the air pressure in the balls affected the outcome of any games. I do believe that all teams "bend the rules to some degree; some get caught, some don't.

I don't hate any team or player (the 49ers come close). What does bug me is the Patriots and their fans claiming they "won" the Super Bowl. They didn't win....Seattle lost. And everybody knows it but, its still a "W" in the Win/Loss column.

So this next year should be interesting. The top 5 in the pre-season power Rankings have Seattle 1st, followed by Green Bay, New England, Indy and Denver(?). I'm still putting my money on Seattle. The are going to be determined, hungry and looking to make everyone forget "the play" that ended the last SB.

I'm going with the Seahawks all the way and I'm willing to bet my avatar on it. And I have to say it was much more painful than I thought it would be to see that stupid Patriots logo every time I open the site.

I agree. It would be nice to have all those tears flowing into one pool. There might be enough to raise the water in the Great Lakes.

That's funny, I would say the same about the Seachickens! That being said, the 49ers' management have made some very bad choices so I expect nothing but mediocrity this season. Expecting nothing may get me something, who knows? At least we have the World Series and NBA champs! Let's go Giants!
