Right now the long range forcast is calling for rain next weekend during the Kilmarnock trip. As of right now it is Gimme Time, Bay Runner and myself that are still signed up to attend.

So the question is do we still want to do the trip? I got to travel about 80 miles and if the weather is bad I don't think I will go. I don't care about it raining but if it is windy and really choppy water then we will not travel.

We could postpone till later in the summer, maybe September or late Augest.

Please give me your thoughts on this. If anyone else thinks that postponing will allow them to attend please let me know that as well.

Thank You

Barry

Barry,

I already couldn't make it next weekend as I'm on travel, so a change may make it possible for me to attend. That is dependent on the arrival of my daughter's baby and her affect on our travel later in the summer.

Barry,

GT & Bay Runner are now out as I am headed to Harbor fest in Norfolk today for the weekend. As much as you have tried to get this function off the ground I believe the location which is not far from us has no real pull which I can understand. We are in the area often and have never thought of the facility as having much pull for boaters compared to other locations. This was a concern of ours when the location was first chosen but I had hoped I was wrong.

I'd strongly suggest a location with a natural better pull such as Solomon’s which has a much easier desirable pull and if you schedule it with either the Spring Grand opening of the Tiki Bar event or the early Fall Thunder on the Bay racing event you could probably get 10-15 boats in the Spring or 30-45 boats for the fall event. This fall we are headed up the bay to Baltimore to the Star Spangled Spectacle which is like the 9-15 of September, there might be a conflict with the Thunder on the Bay event but that is just MHO.

Let us know what you think and come up with and we will try to make the Southern Bay event but you will have a larger attendance when scheduled with something else going on most likely as a draw over where we were all headed for next weekend.

Thank You for your responce and suggestions. I guess I am different from most people as I would enjoy going and meeting new people and hanging out with them without having to have a large function to draw me there.

We normally only make one distance trip each summer becouse of the fuel costs and me being able to schedule an extended weekend. We live in PA so I drive 4 hours to go boating which puts a crimp in our distance boating for sure.

However I will look into a fall funcion and see if something will work. If not I will try to set it up for next year at Colonial Beach when they have the River Fest (which is this weekend BTW) maybe that would be enough to draw boaters in. All I can do is try.

So lets cancell next weekend.

Again Thank You all....

Barry

I wanted to participate (by land) but had other boat activities planned next weekend. I definitely enjoyed meeting folks at our Kent Narrows event, and thought about organizing another, but the spring got away from me. My project coming to and end, and looking for a new assignment didn't help matters. Thankfully that has worked it self out and I'm still employed!
