2013 CSR Carolinas Coastal Rendezvous

Sounds great guys. July 12-14 it is. We'll do the first night at RiversEdge, then anchor out the second night. We'll either go up to Capers Island or out to Sandy Point, both with good beaches, spend Saturday on the beach, then anchor out nearby. We can discuss and decide which one as we get closer. Gerald, I'll be at the marina this weekend, so I'll ask them what the transient rate will be and get back to you. I think we may get one or two more boats from the regulars near Charleston, but I don't have any confirmations yet.

OK, anyone else in the Carolinas want to join us? It's going to be a great time, so join us if you possibly can!

I wish we could make it. We are already committed (mentally too) that weekend. We'll catch you on the next trip, now that we have a trailer we will be a bit more mobile :)

I just thought of something... we'll have Durango. Are either of those beaches dog friendly? We'll want to go to a dog-friendly beach.

Durango!!!! Only dog I ever known, that swam to shore to pee by himself, then could swim back against the current to the boat!!! A strong current too! Smart dog.

I gotta say I was very worried while watching him swim back to the boat and wondering if he could make it... that was a mighty effort against a strong current for sure. He's a little older now and I'd just assume not test that adventure again!

...Great to hear we're looking at dog friendly beaches BTW.

We're thinking of taking Monday off work and possibly staying over Sunday night too. Is that possible for anyone else?

To many vacations to decide on huh Kes! haha Sorry you can't make it that weekend.

I'm thinking if the "rendezvous" doesn't happen, Sadler and I will meet up and do something that weekend anyways.

I get half as much time off with the new job, so we got to make it count! Plus, with the new house, it's hard for us to justify back to back trailer weekends and wouldn't even get down there until Friday night. That's only 1 non travel day. I like to relax when I go boating!

Kes, you should just keep your boat at Riversedge, and all your problems would be solved! :>)

I plan to Chris. I'm still hoping to do a big trip south this summer, and maybe get some other folks/boats to come along. I'll be in touch before setting dates.

Wednesday night?!? Hope that's a typo/brainfart.....we'll be there from Friday 12th - Monday 15th.

I'm open to any ideas and will go with the flow and whatever you deem best, but will offer a couple of random thoughts that aren't set in stone at all. I'm thinking it might be more comfortable to stay out on the hook at first and then stay in a slip a night afterwards to take advantage of restocking our water tank and taking showers at the marina after a day or two out, as opposed to getting a slip the first night and then spending the rest of the weekend out and then driving all the way home skanky LOL. But either way does not matter to me. We do plan on also staying Sunday night so that is sort of a wildcard. Did you find out what the transient slip fee is at your marina?

I see you edited Wednesday to Thursday. Still, we won't get there until about noon Friday. Also, could you give a specific address for the county landing/boat ramp for me to mapquest and get directions to? FYI, I'll be working from dawn until after dusk all week this week through Thursday so will have limited access to internet... I'll check back to this thread when I can.

I found the ramp (it's right beside your marina) and note that your marina also has a ramp, so we're okay. We should arrive between noon and 1pm Friday and will stay until Monday morning. We are excited to come and will enjoy whatever plan you want to go with as long as the Admiral still gets to lay on the beach awhile... Friday and Saturday it does not matter whether we are on the hook or at the marina, but we prefer to end our stay Sunday night at a marina (either Rivers Edge or CHM). Looking forward to it! I'll send a PM.

Sadly I have to miss this trip. A close friend of mines wife has passed and the services are being held on Sat. July 13th. She was in recovery from Breast Cancer but lost the battle a couple of days ago. I hope ya'll have an enjoyable time relaxing.

The battle with my boat continues, but I'll be ready for the next trip.

I just checked the weather for Charleston, it doesn't look good. I hope if you guys do this trip you keep a watchful eye.

Seems the weather this year is weird. We are flooding the lakes around Charlotte. Dams are overflowing. Houses are flooding. Be careful guys.

Yeah gonna talk it over with the Admiral tonight.... probably not gonna come. Too much chance of having to sit it out inside the cabin watching the rain, and I'm not going to take a trip that far just to do that. I'm very disappointed :(

That's how the weather was for us when we went to Charleston a few weeks ago. We had 1 day of nice weather. I know we NEEDED the rain, but I'm ready for some nicer boating weather...
