2013 CSR Carolinas Coastal Rendezvous

Looks like the June 28th weekend won't work. Anyone else got a suggestion for a date? Maybe in July or August?

Is there anything wrong with the July 26-28 weekend I suggested? If so the two weekends before it might also work for us.

Last week of June and first week of July, I'll hopefully be in the Bahamas on my boat.....if the weather coorperates. I can't believe there is a named storm already this season so early!

Mike I'd love to go to the Bahamas next year.

End of thread drift. :)

Count us if it's any of these weekends;
July 20th-21st;
August 3rd-4th
August 10th-11th

We finally picked up a trailer for our 260 a few weeks ago and can now (affordablely) travel south (half on the road, half on the water) :) We would love to hook up with a few folks in Myrtle Beach and head south to Charleston for the weekend.

Gerald, Mike how about July 12? I think Jim is open then. If not how about one of the weekends Rob lists: July 20th-21st;
August 3rd-4th
August 10th-11th?

All thoes dates work for me....except for the Aug 3rd-4th.

My 3rd & 4th may have changed to 10th & 11th, I'll update as I know for sure. And, if I can't get the commitment out of them, I will for this trip!! That's how I roll.

I need to discuss with the Admiral tonight about the dates. We have a 15 yr old in JROTC I don't know when in August his activities will start.

In my prior post I forgot that I do have something going on the morning of July 12th so if it is that weekend we could still make it, but might arrive pretty late in the afternoon Friday. It does sound like the 12th is the one when the most could show up.

After much discussion and thought our summer is already slammed full. We already are planning a July 20th day at the lake for our boys Bible study that we host, so that weekend is now out for us.

Of the dates discussed in this thread, it looks like the best bet for a weekend that the most of you can do is July 12-14. If that is what ends up happening I plan to skip my July 12th commitment, Ashli will take that Friday off work, and we'll come down for the event Friday. So yes, we can do July 12-14.

I think we are planning a trip to Charleston July 12-14 weekend anyways. If we can combine the Rendezvous with that, it'll be big fun. Good luck to everyone in making it. It sure will be nice to see you and yours....and durango too!

I'm sure Sadler will whip up a great itineary for the occassion. I always like to eat at the Shipwreck! Shem Creek is always nice too!

oooh.... we'd go to Shem Creek for sure! I did just think of something that we will be concerned about. We have no A/C on the boat, and I noted average July lows there are 77 degrees. I hope it's not hotter than that at night....

As a thought, the 2007 river run going through the lock and down to Charleston was a lot of fun. I wouldn't mind thinking of doing that again either as part of the trip. (?)

It's not so bad at night if you have a fan that moves alot of air. I have dock side powered a/c, but no generator to run it, but do have a big battery bank and fans to do the trick. Generally sometime in the middle of the night I crawl under the covers because it feels chilly to me.

Wal Mart has some automotive 12 volt fans that are like 12.00 a piece and they clip on. They move quite a bit of air too. Change your anchor light to a led and save some power. Superbrite Led sells them. You just have to measure your light fixture and match them to the right length, and type bulb.

Looks like we killed the thread Mike LOL. I'm installing fans while on the lake this weekend, and my anchor light is already LED. I do plan on going 100% LED in the future. With 3 batteries onboard I won't worry about running them down, especially after I'm 100% LED.

Back to the subject... can we plan on July 12-14? I emailed Charleston Harbor Marina and at this time they still have transient slips available, but I don't know how much longer that will be true. I'd feel better if we went ahead and started finalizing plans in case we need to reserve slips. Sadler would you plan on spending both nights on the hook, or one night at the marina and one night on the hook, or what? The Admiral would also like to spend a few hours on the beach somewhere.

Any interest in doing a river run through the Pinnopolis (sp?) dock down to Charleston as opposed to ramping in at Charleston?

OK, July 12-14 works for me. Some good beaches nearby, so that won't be a problem. Gerald, where will you put in? If you put in at the County Landing, you'd be right next to my marina. Mike has put in there several times. The marina next door (RiversEdge), where I keep my boat, has fairly cheap transient rates, and I can reserve slips, so you wouldn't have a problem getting one. Or, if C.H. Marina is preferred, we can do that. And, there's definitely stuff to do if folks are up for anchoring out two nights. We could head north for Capers Island, or south towards Sandy Point at Kiawah--both have very nice beaches.

Let's do a roll call. So far we'd have Gerald, Mike, and myself--3 boats? We'll maybe have Moonshadow, a SR 270da also with us. Who else could make those dates?

I'm in, and up for whichever is decided upon. I would like however, like to eat some Shem Creek seafood. But not a deal breaker if not.

Capers Island and beach sounds good to me.

Gerald, the river run sounds good, however I will have just returned from my Bahamas trip, and extra time at the helm won't be what I'm looking for. However you can do it, and meet up in Charleston!

Okay this sounds good. I'm not willing to do the river run alone, so I can put in by your marina Sadler. Maybe we could do one night at your marina and one night on the hook by a beach (?) so my Admiral stays happy. What would the transient slip rate for a 24ft be? Shem Creek sounds great too!
