2013 Chesapeake Bay Gathering?

Tony,
Thanks for the update. Sounds like there will be a lot going on and activities for us in addition to our own event. Hopefully not too much chaos, but I am confident we will be able to keep our selves entertained and have a good time.

I have inquired about the vessel safety checks, but have not heard back from my contact yet. Hopefully he has not changed his number since what was written on my inspection sheet from last year.

Looks like our list of participants is growing nicely. Please continue to get the word out to those you boat with and also remember that this is not restricted to CSR and Sea Ray owners only. From my perspective it's about getting to meet CSR folks we correspond with but also to meet other boaters from around the bay to be familiar faces when we are on the water and transients in various marinas.

Hi All,
According to my countdown timer, we're officially less than 30 days out! Sounds like there will be a lot of activities going on at the marina, but I talked to the staff again at the end of last week and they still have space. For those of you still considering coming, hopefully you will join us. Please work on making your decisions and getting your reservation set. If anyone wants to come by land and hang out, also try to give me a heads up so that we may be able to secure some guest passes for the pool / parking for you. I plan to turn in our roster early to mid week that week so that the marina can work on slip assignments for us in advance.

Do we want to organize a lunch/dinner Saturday, or maybe a potluck/cookout or drinks at one of the pier pavillions? Anyone have other ideas or want to take the lead on organizing something?

Just curious how many are attending so far.

So far 10 Boats (see spreadsheet about 3 posts down if you are curious as to who is coming). I have more outstanding "maybes" and "want to come but not sure yet" responses.... Hoping that some of those will soon be on the "coming" side of the fence, but you never know.

Hi All,
Two things... First, I just saw that the 2013 Bay Bridge Swim is on June 9th, so if you are planning to come/go through the Bay Bridge on the 9th, be sure to check the schedule for open and close times. I got hung up in this 2 years ago when I didnt know. Once the bridge is closed for the swim, it will re-open from the Sandy Point Park side as the swimmers make their way across. Here is a link to the website. http://www.bayswim.com/

Second... Wondering if anyone wants to organize a pier/pier-side pot luck kind of event. Doesn't have to be all that complicated, but maybe just keeping track of what folks roger up to bring so we make sure we have enough food and also coverage for main course items, sides, drinks, deserts etc. Any thoughts?

Thanks and hope your spring boating season is going well so far!

James

Jim, we have another one attending from our marina, 33 sundancer, I'll send the info later

The nice thing about Mears is you can get there from either side of the bridge. I'm game for whatever, I can bring food or beverages. Maybe we should make a list of items needed and people can volunteer.

Jim,
Can you add a another column to your list of attendees? Label the column (Dinner Contribution) and list what everyone will contribute. It may only need to be food and everyone can bring their own drinks, thoughts? Make is easy like what you suggested, burgers, dogs, brats, chicken, and apps. We will also need to have plates, cups, and etc. A PM might be best to everyone attending, list what is needed and you can pick what you want to bring.

Sounds good. I'll jump on that tonight. We had our blessing of the fleet over in the Rhode River this weekend and it was a pretty bumpy night sleep. Of course then the weather improved sunday so stayed on the boat grilling out in Harness creek for lunch and dinner till the very last minute... At which point I got home around 10pm and passed out upon sittng on the couch. Harness creek was eerily quiet sunday. Flat calm, not a ripple on the water. No boats anchored except our two. No one at the kayak dock. Just super quiet and peaceful. :) Oh, and the water at 68-degrees is a shock to the system once you jump in, but after a minute or two...really refreshing.

Glad you had a good time, we spent the night in Harness Creek Friday night. Before you know it the water will be 90 degrees.

Hey Everyone,
the list continues to grow. Keep em coming. Also, starting to work on a pot luck for Saturday afternoon/evening. I'll work up a list of things we need but in the meantime if there is something you would like to volunteer to bring, let me know. I updated the spreadsheet with a column so we can start tracking what folks are planning. If anyone has other ideas, throw them in too.

Thanks
James

Good News,
i was able to confirm with my POC that he's willing to do USCG Vessel Safety Checks for anyone who wants one while we are there. Please let me know if you would like to have one done. I've updated the spreadsheet to keep track.

Thanks
James

I'm in for the coast guard check. What's the final decision on the pot luck? Is it a BBQ or do we bring a dish to share?
