2013 Chesapeake Bay Gathering?

This is the only reason you need to never, ever go to this place, they jumped on the stealer bandwagon last August, bragged about it on their FB page and got slammed for it..........wonder how many customers they had for the recent Super Bowl.......just doing my part for Raven Nation

I had not seen this... That's awfully dumb of them given their location!

Whether for this gathering or another, you might want to check out Bay Bridge Marina. Large floating docks, great restaurant, great view, convenient location. They usually have lots of slips for transients and are glad to have them. The Silverton Club was there last year.

xravenx,
Congratulations on the spectacular super bowl win. I may fly the steeler flag, I do respect a great team and great competition. I hope you can make it to the event.

Tony

Jim,
I was going to send you this in private but I feel the entire group should see it. I was not trying to be a nay sayer when reporting on Mears at Kent Narrows. I am glad that you had such a great experience there and wish the same for your gathering. As I said the waterway into the marina leaves little room for error as does the passage to your slip. As a commercial waterman who has run many different types of watercraft I think my judgement on that issue is spot on. Also the check out and check in time has always been an anal issue with them. Perhaps management has changed and all is for the good. I hope so. Herrington Harbor South is a wonderful place. The spots along the entrance way and side to side near the pool are the best. Having just returned from two weeks at Siesta Key Florida I am charged up and ready to launch. I Thank you for taking the time and trouble to get folks together for some fun on the bay. It's not an easy task trying to please everyone. Good luck again on your gathering and hope to meet up with you and some of the others this year. Remember we are on Bodkin Creek in Mathias Cove just across from Pleasure Cove Marina. If the boats at the pier we are home. Its CJS TOO and its the red house and boat shed on the right. Stop by for a cold one or two.

I would love to go, but it's just too far. Maybe us Southern VA folks can have one at the beach!

George, I went to B'more boat show yesterday and met the owner of Pleasure Cove Marina. Seems like a great spot to visit ; Chesire Grill etc......Thoughts ? Second, at MLW how is depth @ #s 7, 7a,8 & 9. ? ...Tim

Pleasure Cove is a great little weekend getaway with a great restaurant and a nice pool, but that is it. There is nothing in the area, and nothing in walking distance. The owner (Jerry) is a hell of a nice guy, you should see his boat! I think mine will fit in his trunk!

I think this spot is more for a small group weekend outing though. Take you dingy and you can motor across the pond and see George and CJ.

The more the merrier. All are welcome. Don't forget about Mike's Crab House over on Rock Creek. Inside, deck and big tiki bar dining. Also from there you can walk to Tall Oaks Restaurant. Tim, stay in the channel comming into the Bodkin and you won't have a problem. When entering stay left of center channel. When leaving favor the green. Pleasure Cove is nice place to drink, swim and dine on the deck or inside. Bill I hope to catch up with you this year.

Hey Jims, how come your 300DA is one inch wider than mine. Was that a factory upgrade? Good news though, mine is 3' 4" longer than yours.

Holy Crap, fire the organizer! :) He fat finger'd the width of two boats by an inch, and left Jim out of the crew block on his boat. I'll update it so Jim gets to join us too!:smt024
(Actually regarding the 10'6, I guess I was so used to that when setting up reservations for my Dad's '87 270DA)

I'll make sure the marina adds the swim platform tax on yours if you join us

Finally getting some traction! Sounds like a few more folks are thinking about coming too.

Would anyone be interested in having a USCG vessel safety check while we are there? They check your equipment and then give you a sticker for your boat. Most times at that point, if you are out on the water, the USCG / marine police see the sticker and you are not stopped since you've been checked. If you are stopped, you can show the inspection sheet and you are on your way.

I did it two years ago at the beginning of the season and it was really simple. Last year there was a USCG Auxiliary member who was also a slip holder at Mears, and he offered to do it again for me when he saw the old sticker from the previous year. Took all of 10 minutes or so.

I can ask if he would be willing to do it for those of us who want to while there. Will just add another column to the tracker sheet.

I highly recommend the coast guard checks. With my home marine next door to USCG HQ having the sticker helps. I've gotten one every season I've been boating. Just did mine for this season this past weekend.

Still watching the calendar. Looks like a great event coming together.

Here are some of the activities that will be happening June 8th during the CSR gathering

Letter from Dock master

I recently went out to the north channel and took depth readings myself, sorry to say but no dredging has been done at this time. In the new channel which is marked by the green buoy at low tide is 8 feet.

I'm enlisting the help of all slip holders: send transients to our marina for the summer! Here's how it works, if you the slip holder invite a friend to come stay this season as a transient you will receive a $25 gift card good for Red Eye's or the fuel dock. Just call the main office and tell us which dates your friend will be coming, then have them call us and make the reservation. Be sure that they mention you (slip holders name) that recommended us when they call. Your gift card can be redeemed the day of the transients arrival.

June 8th, our marina will be participating in National Marina day. A day that is dedicated to promoting boating safety and the marina industry. Either rain or shine bring your family and friends out from 11-4 and enjoy vendors such as the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, West Marine, Hudson Marine, Yamaha outboard motors, SeaArk boats and our own inventory of boats for sale through Mears Point Yacht Sales.

Current water temperature in the marina: 54.9 degrees

Thanks,
Jason Tuel
Dockmaster
