Anyone interested in the idea of trying to organize a Chesapeake Bay CSR get together? Maybe middle bay somewhere like Annapolis or Kent Narrows to try to get the most participation from North Bay and South Bay folks too? Keeping it closer to the western shore (vs St. Michaels or Rock Hall) may allow us to draw in some of the Potomac/DC boaters who could come easier by car. St. Mikes is a haul by land, although a great destination for a gathering. Annapolis and Kent Narros also provide easy access to a wide variety of restaurants and local lodging.

Just throwing the thought out there to see if there's interest or other ideas and input.

Jim,
I think its a great idea, count me in. I think a raft up would be ideal, it would allow boats to come and go as they please.

I would be there. Never been a part of a CSR event before. what's needed to organize an event like this?

Hi JimFromMD
Sounds interesting, I would be up for something like this depending on the time of year. We trailer our 270 and put out of Sandy Point State Park, so Kent narrows, St. Micheals, or even Fairlee Creek might work although Fairlee is a bit north of center they have a great anchorage for a raft.

I'm in with Admiral and son (8 years-old)

I hail from Rock Hall at Osprey Point Marina.

Awesome. Glad to see that there is some interest. I've never been a part of an event like this and not sure if we need Jim's permission to make it a CSR event but doubt it would be a problem. I'm not super great at organizing these type things but am willing to give it a go, for the barebones part of things anyway. As we move forward maybe others can help organizing a dinner or some activities. (If someone else wants to be commodore for the event, I won't stand in the way!)

I personally am still leaning towards a marina for the "official" event but if we did it as a Saturday overnighter, there could be a pre raft up Friday and/or after raftup on Sunday as folks check out to carry on the festivities.

When are we thinking would be good? I'm thinking soon after Memorial Day so that pools will be up and running as well as all the local activities will be in full scale operation. The mid bay will still be jelly free for the raft up portion too.

Herrington Harbor south is a great marina (see background of sig pic lol) but can get expensive for larger boats. Mears Kent Narrows is a large facility with lots of restaurants nearby as well as a nice hotel (Hilton Garden) within walking distance if some folks want to attend by shore from the Potomac boating scene. I'd really like to be able to reach the widest spread of the site membership we can. It will be cool to meet everyone. Mears kent narrows has a big pool and a big undercover pavillion if the weather goes bad on us. They also offer a west marine discount on fuel and transient slip fees.

Again, still in the brainstorming phase so that's why I brought it up early. Open to other location and activity suggestions so keep them flowing.

no issues with me. I love to see you guys organize rendezvous'. There are usually a few great ones around the country every year. I've been to some!

Herrington Harbor South and Mears Kent Narrows are both good choices. I recommend 2 nights (Friday & Saturday) to make it worth while for those who have to travel a longer distance. You mentioned sometime after Memorial Day, what if we target mid-June?

Mid June sounds like a winner. Looking at the calender for June, that leaves 8/9, 15/16 or 22/23 June as the options. Any preferences?

Two thumbs up for Fairly Creek. It's about 10NM North of Rock Hall. Entering at low tide can be a bit tricky for larger boats but it's a glorious place to raft up. The swimming is fantastic.

Sounds great to us, count Deb & I in. Never been to one, agree with Jim, Mears is a great facility & not just because we slip there. The pool is great & the large pavillion is helpful plus great restaurants. Let us know if we can assist with anything. Not a great organizer either.

Sounds like a great idea. We would love to join in. I would put in at Sandy Point as well and will be trailering from Central Pa.

Sounds like a great time. We already have plans the last weekend of June, so if the trip lands on the first couple of weekends in June, then we are in.
