Hello,
I just purchased this boat. While we were anchored and the engine was off, the stereo was working fine. I remembered that I was supposed to turn the battery from “Both” to “#2”. When I did that the stereo stopped working. Yes I left my phone plugged in and the stereo playing while I switched the battery setting.Oops :-(. Did I blow a fuse? If so, where is it? I did reset the circuit breaker but that wasn’t helpful.
The stereo does work but only when the engine is running and the battery is on “both”. The electrical schematic isn’t helpful and our marina mechanic wasn’t much help either. Thank you and
happy 4th!

First make sure you actually have 2 batteries.

If so, does the engine start and run when your switch is set to #2?

What circuit breaker was tripped that you had to reset it?

Assuming the battery switch is either stock or a quality install afterwards, leaving things 'on' while you switched the battery switch won't matter.

Could have a bad battery #2... or connected wrong.

What about setting #1 - does that work normally?

Thank you for responding.
There is a circuit breaker near the battery switch. It was not tripped but I reset it just to see if that would fix the problem.
Sadly, although battery 2 worked when I took possession of the boat 2 weeks ago. It does not now.
When I switch to battery 2 nothing works and I cannot start the boat or get the bilge blower to work.
I plan to take a battery charger and tester down with me this weekend.

If NOTHING has changed or been altered, then the most likely cause is a depleted (from leaving something on) battery or a failed battery. Easy enough to check. But you need to do a load test once the battery is fully charged... most Autozone's/etc will do that for free.

What about #1? Does the stereo work on the #1? Almost has to, but like to confirm it. If it does not, id suspect the stereo is wired direct to battery #2 and the battery is dead.

What about engine running and switch on #2? This would also indicate #2 is dead.

No, moving the battery switch with engine off did not and will not cause any issues. Perfectly electrically safe to do.

This is odd. The boat doesn’t start on 1 or 2. It only starts on both.
The stereo only works on both.

Sounds like something is wired wrong with the battery switch. Figure out who made the battery switch and look up the installation instructions and verify that everything is wired properly.

The boat starts on the #1 battery switch. We drove it today on just #1 and played the stereo with the engine turned off.
Both batteries are 2017. Perhaps the #2 battery is failing.

This is getting a bit hard to follow, here ;)

Originally, we talked about verifying the batteries are good by load testing them. Have you done that, yet? If not, get that done, first.
