2011 Taxes- This seems to be true - Do not be eating while reading!

Guys this has been on the books ever since Bush got the cuts passed in the first place. It was no secret that they would expire at the end of 2010. If we didn't have a Bolshevic President and Congress, they might have extended them for another couple of years until the economy recovers. The rub is even if the Republicans get control back of both houses in November and pass a bill to extend them, Barack Hussein would just veto it.

. . .and if the Democrats attempted to extend the Bush tax cuts, the Republicans would do everything in their power to block them because of "the deficit". That is the way American politics works these days.

You guys act like this is a surprise and a huge conspiracy.

The tax legislation, complete with this moronic phase out, was passed 10 years ago in Bush's first term. It was never made permanent because the Republican controlled legislature couldn't pass it (because of budget issues) before the Democrats took congress in 2006.

. . .and the Democrats actively campaigned on letting this legislation expire just the way the Republicans planned. This is NOT a surprise.

Comsnark, which Repubs are you referring to that would block the extension of the tax cuts?

Seriously? If the Democrats proposed a resolution in favor of Motherhood and Apple-pie day, the Republicans would oppose it.

Just like the Democrats did before taking control of Congress.

Cornsnort is a liberal-left-leaning-give-free-stuff-to-everyone-and-stick-it-to-the-rich guy...

No. . .I just like tweaking you guys. I just was really amused how many of you guys are acting like this is a tax change that the Democrats passed in the dead of night.

I wonder how many of you think that the Obama Administration passed the Bank Bailout (Tarp)?

Comsnark, the republicans have been clear about the need to extend the tax cuts. Boehner acknlowdged the fallacy of doing temporary tax cuts, and stated they should be made permanent.

Dems and repubs have different ideology and usually vote that way. They don't (usually) simply vote to oppose the other party.

And I am exactly aware of how the current tax bomb came to be. There would never have been a good time for it to expire, but at present it is especially dangerous.

Congress should vote to make it permanent and Obama should sign it.
