Anyone planning to go this year?
 
Is it worth a drive to Chicago to check it out from STL?
 
Unless they plan to enlarge the show to what it used to be I will be passing on it. Every year it has gotten smaller and smaller.

The largest boat there last year I believe was a 43 Tiara. They used to have the RV show a floor below and the booths in the back room, last year everything was on the same floor in the same room. Its great to be around boats in January but you could probably see more and not spend the entrance fee by going to your local boat showroom.

I have been going since I can remember, I even bought my boat on the show floor in 1994. This would be the first year I miss, unless I impulsively end up saying the heck with it and go for a half hour to walk around.
 
Sounds like St. Louis has about the same offerings. 40' seems to be the max. A few years back they would get into the 50' range.
 
A few years ago they were bringing in larger Sedan Bridge Sea Rays, 56 Carver Voyagers, Navigators, Azimuts, Large Sundancers and all kinds of large boats. There WAS a point in time that all the big manufacturers had almost every boat in their lineup on display.
 
Many of the builders now have factory showrooms, and will not have as large a presence at boat shows from here forward. If a local dealer has a decent inventory of new boats, they may have a variety to look at. I would not travel very far to the Chi-town show expecting to see what you did 5 or more years ago. unless you are shopping for fishing boats, pontoons or runabouts, stay home and surf the internet on builders sites.
 
We will be going this year. We skipped last year and went to Milwaukee instead. It is smaller but gives the wife and I a chance to get out. It is usually within a day or two of her birthday so we make a weekend of it.
 
I'm headed up to the show...mainly to get together with some friends. Bob and Mike if your going we can get together.

Even though Scott is bit##ing about it again this year,
I'm sure we can talk him into coming.

Even if my wife doesn't want to join me, you want to go together in one vehicle to the show?

Yeah we can take one vehicle down to the show.
The GF will be back down in Florida for 10 days.

We will just figure out a day that we can all (Joe, Scott and Mike) meet up.

I talked to my salesman at Skipper Buds and they will have some smaller Sea Rays there but not bigger ones. They plan to have a big boat show at their North Point facilities sometime in January.
 
Bob any updates on a Skipper Buds show? Will they only have Sea Ray there?
