Hello everyone I am new to this forum I am I am looking for any information on the piranha props and what 4 blade prop I should be using I have a 2008 Sea Ray 185 sport has the 4.3 190 horsepower I have seen some people use in 22 pitch and I have seen some people using the 18 pitch has has anybody tested... Just looking to get out of the hole a little better. I have recently just purchased this boat

last year I was running a 23p 14 diameter black max 3 blade, this year I put a 14 1/2, 19p 3 blade and its a different boat. rides better, feels better, responds better, My rpms are right at 4700 and the boat runs about 48mph on the gps. Im in the shallow barnegat bay in NJ and stainless steel doesn't fit my needs but I have the same boat and motor so thought Id post the prop Im running. Its been an awesome little boat for my family. Welcome and good luck

Are you skiing or tubing with the boat... I'm new to the I/o I have only had out boards

Mostly tubing. If you find a local prop shop they will probably loan you 1 or 2 to try, to help you decide what suits your needs

I don't have any info on the piranha props, but I am a big fan of the mercury High Five for holeshot/watersports applications. I went from the 3 blade 23p aluminum stock prop to the 5 blade SS High Five in a 21p and it was amazing the difference it made for pulling tubes, skiers and wakeboarders.

I went with high 5 on 5.0 mpi. It’s s dream but my boat was way overpowered. High consumed hp for torque. My only caution is make sure you have enough motor to turn it

Try listing your current prop, and what kind of performance numbers you are getting, speed, rpm, etc. That will give a starting point and can recommend from there. The "mercury prop selector" is also a great place to start. With technology, props seem to change all the time. I'm getting great results running a Merc Spitfire 4 blade.

I am currently using the aluminum 3 blade 14.25 x 21 roughly 45mph with 4 people.. at this moment I don't have any more info

What boat do you have

It's in my signature. Looks like the same boat as you except for a 2007 model year. It's a 2007 185 Sport with the wakeboard package and a 4.3 TKS engine.
Sorry I don't see a signature... Sorry about that

What pitch and diameter is your prop

The stock prop that came on my boat was the Mercury BlackMax Aluminum 3 blade prop in a 23" pitch (I don't know the diameter)

I replaced the stock prop with a Mercury High Five Stainless Steel 5 blade prop in a 21" pitch (I don't know the diameter)

If your primary use is water sports, then a 18 pitch four blade prop. Manually keep it from revving to high, and you will enjoy the low end power.

Water sports is not my primary use just every once in awhile
