2008 Rendezvous TN River?

See what kind of neat things you can learn on CSR:lol::smt043:lol:
Should I bring my Honda 1000 Genset for you.:smt043:lol: I could fit it in the bilge area on MS Judy.

Sorry I could not help myself.

OK back on topic.

Not sure, but we might be able to get group discount tickets for the aquarium any body interested??

CSR does not suggest that anyone should use their portable generator in their or anyone else's teepee. :smt043:grin::smt043

Fine Wesley. Then I will simply leave Chuck's Genny in his engine compartment, open the engine compartment, run Shore/teepee power cord to the window unit, start the genny, close the engine hatch and then turn on the window unit. I believe this is the correct sequence.....Is it not, Wesley??? Now do I have CSR's approval?

Crap. How stupid of me......Of course I will leave the blower on while running the genny.

OK now, Wesley.

Chuck what's this have to do with TeePees, generators, CO detectors, and engine compartments?

Now back off of topic, I'm pretty sure we would like to tour the aquarium, but the wife and kids may drive down so they can spend more time in town. The round trip by boat will be every bit of 8 to 8.5 hours with a fuel stop.

Do you think it will be to long? I've wondered the same thing. Might be better if just run half way via one lock to a great rib/bbq joint on the river. ????

Chuck,

I think you would have to depart by boat at 6:30 AM in order to have a shot at this. I think the wife would like to check out Chattanooga, but we would end up driving down as the kids do OK for about 70 miles per day on the boat. The round trip would be overload for them. I would probably bum a ride on someone's boat for the return. In any event, 140 miles and walking around town would be a FULL Day.

Great point, lets hear what others have to say. 100 Miles on the river can be a killer. I've done it but yes, makes for a very long day.

Forget the air conditioner. Use the generator to keep the beer cold.

140 miles will be a long day I think for my wife. She had already asked how long of a day it would be. A possible solution would be to caravan up to Chattanga. That way not as many trucks have to make the trip. Those that want a long day on the water could meet everyone at the dock and swap off with car riders etc. The barbacue place sounds good to me also.

The train aquarium and shopping sound good to us. Being old lunch would be nice also.

I’m up for the 150 mile round trip, but my wife wasn’t too sure about it. She said she would do it, but wishes it wasn’t quite that long of trip. She wouldn’t mind doing a half boat/half car trip. My oldest son wants to boat to Chattanooga. I could easily be convinced to make the long run which would be fun challenge, or run halfway for BBQ which also sounds like a little more relaxing day.

I agree with SeaRide in that it will take at least 8 to 8.5 hours and that we would have to leave early. I could easily see this turn into a 9 to 10 hour trip if we hit both locks at the wrong time and take a couple of short breaks to jump in the water to cool off (It will be July).

Do we know what cruising speed everyone who wants to make the trip would be comfortable with? A 10 mph speed difference on a 150 mile trip could translate into 1.7 hours more or less on the water.

It is only about 70 miles one way. The problem really becomes the locks(We Have 2 to deal with). You just never know how long it is going to take. Since it is such a long run, I was planning on going about 30MPH. I know that is faster than I and most of you normally run.

What.......30????? You guys have Canbotes or Sundecks?????? Is that all you Sundeck boys can muster up. Heck the Discovery/NGC Sea Ray Sundeck special said the Sundeck would cruise at 46. I thought you boys could at least do 40.

He is trying to make this a GREEN run and conserve energy as GASOLINE.

Oh!!! I'll break out my paddle and sail. ...or just throw out the anchor.

Charlie, What did we run on the Charleston trip? I tried to find my GPS track for our run down, but could not find it. I find that 30-35 is fast when you are running with a group of boats on the river.

:smt043:smt043:smt043

Lead boat must always go faster so that tail end charlie does not hit the 2nd to last boat when stopping.

Right Charley!

On the way back from Charleston I was running 32mph. Most trips I go on are more like28mph.

Much faster than 28mph the sundecks tend to fall behind.

That is because we are up walking around, using the head, fixing a cold drink with the blender, or at the wet bar, etc. Don't want to spill any of the good stuff:lol:
