2008 models are now on Sea Ray's web site

Someone mentioned the Zeus drives as an option on some of the 2008 models. I don't know much about them...but won't they be like on outdrive from a sterndrive sitting in the water? And all of the corrosion/maintenance problems in salt water?

No - They are made of materials which allow them to stay in the salt water. They are the future, IMHO. They allow for stern drive performance (30% energy saving compared to V-Drives) with all of the benefits of inboards.

Also, since they rotate independently, the controllability will be insane.

I looked at the 330 closely. It's a lot like the rest of the new line up.

I don't like:

Square interior - at all.

Square helm - at all.

I do like:

Dressed up wood tables

Aft Speakers

The good news is that I can add those to my 340!

Thanks for the info...I have seen ads in magazines saying they can move a boat sideways....sounds impressive.

So..will these engines not have to be hauled out for maintenance?

I'm sure they will be to some degree, but not for the engines. If they're like my inboards, the alignment is done in the water, unlike a stern drive which is pulled, examined, and re-aligned on dry dock. I think they'll be much more user friendly than a stern drive - just don't hit bottom!

I think my next boat will be diesel with these drives, and used. Good thing I love my 340!

I just looked the 380 over on line. I don't like it. The walls are bare and white inside. It looks stark. I like the helm! The more and more I look, the more and more I like - my boat.

I am confused...the 38DA pics that I looked at had the cherry cabinets...

It seems the entire cruiser line has changed over from "off white" to white for the vinyl that is on the walls and ceilings. Moreover they have changed all the trim moulding from black to white as well. Here are a couple of pictures of the differences on the 260DA but you will see the same things on the other models as well:

Seems very interesting that 280 is available for 2008... is this 3 or 4 model years after the 290 made it's first appearance? I still see very very few 290's on the water.... I think they will have to do more than add the 280 cabin dinette. Maybe a cockpit redesign and toss the square windshield in the dumpster?

I noticed that also, and made sure that I told my friend about it.
Last fall, he purchased a 28, and loves it. Now there are 4 of them at our marina.
As far as I can see, the 28 is one of SR's most popular, and looks like it may stay a while. Much more "solid" feeling than the 29.
It's still here after the scheduled retirement.

Sorry to see the 30 retire. The 31 is its replacement. Not sure if this is a positive move, never having been on a 31.
Who knows, they may bring the molds out of retirement yet.
