2008 44 Sedan Bridge Purchase

:smt009 Oh no John, I was not insinuating you were above your means at all.........I meant it is above MY means so I can enjoy the boat through all your trips and posts thats all.:smt038

No, no, I didn't take it that way. I guess what I'm trying to say is we ARE way above our standard of living, but, we achieved that not by overextending ourselves but by moderating the rest of our lives. It is a huge leap for us. We feel very, very lucky to be able to make this change.

I assure you that our boat does not mimic the rest of our lives. It won't be parked on some canal in front of a 6,000 square foot mansion with a couple of Bentley's in the gayrage (pronunciation) with 2 Doberman's guarding them. Boating is such a huge part of our lives, this is what we have chosen to do - given time and determination, you can do it too.

John, you are proof that the plan my wife and I have for ourselves will pay off. We already make some sacrifices to boat the way we do, but the plan we have ourselves set on will hopefully put ourselves in a situation similar to yours in the future.

Enjoy that wonderful new boat. I can't wait to read about your trips this summer!

Nice choice on the Sea-Lift! I met the guys that run the company when they were just getting started and they installed a lift on a 46 Maxum that I sold. They didn't have the platform lifts out yet but the main reason the owner went with Sea-lift was the single hydraulic cylinder and the ability to keep the dinghy close to the transom when its lowered.

That will compliment your boat very nicely!

The owner of Sea Lift also started FBT. He and his partner had different ideas, so, then went separate ways. My perception is that Sea Lift takes the best of FBT and improves on it.

Nice.

So, just how DO you disable that dang warning tone?

John you got a nice boat, My salesmen at Skipper buds Cooperville Mi demo'd that boat most of the summer, He know's the owner.. hehehe and he says it rocks with the 500's in her... He wanted me to buy it but I wasn't in the mood for a new boat and a new payment... I'm still not in the mood but looking for a 48 DB around 2003-2004 in my budget plan, We too do not live that way.. Ha I drove a 1999 Ford f 350 with 500,00 miles, still and we have a farmhouse here in Michigan (paid off) and it's our dream to have a 48 DB, with all the bells and whistles.. that I think I'll install myself...
Anywasy Way to go on the 44, it's a great boat and you will have fun for sure...

Nice.

It is very annoying, BUT the owner chose to not disconnect it since when he approaches the boat in the dinghy with the remote he knows when its down all the way and when it starts coming up. Not a huge issue in a marina but when anchored he said it has been a great help. You really can't hear the lift motor unless you are standing in the cockpit.

I wonder if you can rig it to play AC/DC or something more relaxing than the stock sound.

That would be great.... "Hells Bells" as you approach the boat!

Thanks, JC. That would be cool.

We're headed to the potential new marina today to checkout the proposed slip. Boat is taken apart and wrapped. Hard top needs to be put on a palate.
