Has this ever happened to anyone else? Two of my rail post broke clean at the base wield.I noticed this after shrink wrap was taken off. There is not a scratch on the boat and no dents or any sign of the rails being hit. No signs of water in rail .I would think there would be some evidence of something to snap 2 rail post clean. Searay has denied my claim of faulty wields. The boat is less than 1 yr old. Any ideas how this could happen?

Sounds like something bumped your rails while in storage.

Its still under warranty, and I pushed out for the extra bucks for the 5 yr coverage.Searay is sticking to the story that the boat was hit, even with 20 pictures from every angle showing not a hint of damage. I have to ask Marina mech. about a re wield. Not very happy with Searay about this,I hope its not a sign of future covered work needed.

So let me understand how Sea Ray covers warranty. You buy it....then they do not inspect the damage....you pay for repairs....Sounds like Sea Ray would rather have all of us start thinking about other quality builders and allow them to start reaping what they sew.

I had a Webber grill whose lid broke in a severe wind storm. I told them exactly how it broke and that it was an act of nature. They said don't worry....asked what model and sent a new lid. I don't think I would ever buy from anyone else after having that experience. They define customer care and I am willing to pay a premium for it.

Best of luck, sorry to hear about the failure.

Do the welds exhibit a clean break or can you see any angles that the metals were pulled? How about a picture?

Hell look at what someone did to mine! I have to have the stanchion replaced completely...

Post your pics. Please

I helped a buddywith a 41 Formula tig weld a couple of verticals back to their bases after "friends" pulled way too hard on the top rails...the leverage broke the welds. He unscrewed the plates from the deck as he drank a couple of beers, flatten the cans, put them under the plates to act as a heat sink & welded away. The factory welds were from the bottom while his were on top but he did a good job & barely noticeable. He welds & drinks often.

Now I instruct anyone "helping" me to grab at the base of the verticals...right down on the deck to avoid the leverage issue

If you have exhausted all the normal channels at Sea Ray, then why not take it straight to Rob Parmentier. Just present the facts as you see them without complaining too loudly. I would think the least that Sea Ray could do for you is have a factory rep inspect the rails before making their decision.

When did that happen?

I bought the boat like that. They must have had a line tied around and started out or something. Maybe a fender became hung up on the wooden covered dock structure?
