Hello, purchased a 2007 Sundancer 240 last summer with only 110 hours, put another 70 hours on the boat. The trim tabs are challenging to get the boat level. I make very short adjustments and sometimes it works perfectly. Other times I'll make a small adjustment and the boat will list 20 degrees, I have to power off the throttle and reset the tabs to the "up" position and start over on the adjustments. Should I consider larger tabs or an auto adjust feature or is it operator error? Thanks, Scott

The most common reason is, as you suggested, operator error. However, observe the tabs and how they function (speed) as someone presses the button. Ensure that they both go up and down at the same speed - it would be rare that they did not, but let's get that variable out of the mix. Also check the fluid level (always with tabs retracted). Assuming they are working fine, trim tabs just take some getting used to. If you hold down the switch until the boat starts to react, you have held it down too far. Solution? Get out there and boat even more!

Find posts by Dave S in the official 260 sundancer thread....just like the same era 260, that is a tippy boat - dave "cracked the code" by reversing the limiting "celery stick" on the trim rams to tuck the drive further in on take off.....that and a few other throttle techniques "solve" much of the problem.....
