Guys,

I am at the alter on a 2006 340 DA, but the seller's broker is getting...uhmmm.... strange to say the least (more details when/if the deal is over). So, its making me reconsider a very solid 2002 410 EC that our broker showed us earlier, but will ultimately be about 30K more (EC has diesels, super clean, low hours, etc....I've been on the boat several times now). Any last minute advice either way will be much appreciated. I can afford the extra 30k, but saving 30k and getting similar functionality/layout/newer boat can matter.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts/suggestions/experience.

This is a no brainer.........

1. A broker getting strange? ..........Run Forest Run!

2. The EC with diesels is 2-3X the boat the 340DA is..........the 30K difference will be the best money you will ever spend on boats.

Doug, If it's the boat I'm thinking of it already has a few strikes against her. 1)Fishing package not very popular on 340DA's ( hurts resale) 2) All Flexiteak flooring on a boat used for fishing (stock up on Simple Green... your going to need it) 3) Merc 6.2's (you will want the 8.1's) and lastly a strange broker. Get the bigger boat! Good luck, Brian

Thanks, Brian - it may be the same boat, but this one does have the 8.1's w/ V-drive (they listed both 6.2's and 8.1's in different parts of their listing, along with both V-drives AND stern drives....like I said, strange broker).

Many thanks for everyones thoughts/suggestions,

Doug

THIS +100x

Aside from the overall size of the boat, having diesels is the way to go. I repowered a previous boat from 454's to Cummins diesels and the difference was night and day. It was the best money I ever spent on a boat. You will love diesels...just make sure they turn up the recommended WOT RPM's and keep up with the maintenance. Other than raw water impellers and changing oil and zincs I never had an issue with my engines in all the years I owned them. And I ran them hard as an offshore fisherman running 70 miles to the fishing grounds...

I would look at Dave Stolze's (Boatdave) his 410 EC is for sale. It is a beautiful freshwater boat that is maintained very well. Compared to my 320 - it dwarfs it.
