I have a '06 195 Sport with tower and there is a fiberglass piece on both sides (for no appearent reason) that are just siliconed/epoxied in place. They are both cracked/broken and I am wondring if anyone else has had this issue and what you did.

After some research, it seems that this should have been a recall becasue in 2007+ models, Sea Ray appearently had so many problems with this piece, they removed it and placed a matching decal. When this originally happened a few years ago, I called the Sea Ray dealer where I purchased the boat and they said that they would not cover it.

All I am wanting to do is have the two pieces removed and to get the matching decal like they did on all years since '06 (on the 195 Sports).

Any ideas?

Hi Scott,

I have the same issue with my 2006 195 Sport. On mine, the starboard side vent cover (official name) was cracked through and the port side was just loose. This spring, the starboard vent cover was torn right off and lost while towing the boat on the highway.

Anyhow, I tracked down the part numbers and contacted my local dealer (located in Alberta, Canada). I thought I would replace both sides with new parts, but changed my mind when I was quoted the price. The starboard vent cover was priced at $110.00, and the port side vent cover was priced at $245.00!!! That said, I ordered the starboard only, and am just about to install it with epoxy.

From what I've seen, your issue with removing the vent covers and using the decal will be in getting them off the hull without taking chunks out of the gelcoat. The original adhesive that was used to install them is pretty strong and doesn't like to let go without taking some meat with it.

Hope this info helps.
