I am considering an 06' 185 with a 4.3 Does anyone know if an 06' 4.3 would be fuel injected or carbureted? The boast is currently in storage and the owner isn't aware of what it has. I have not been able to tell from google searches if both were offered in 06' or not. Thanks.

The 4.3L was the optional engine for that boat, but only available as a carb'd model. The 3.0L 4cyl was standard. The boat moves VERY well with the V6! If you want, check out Sea Ray's website - you can see the specs and download the "brochure" for that model under the "Owner's Resources" tab.

Lazy Daze, are you sure. I have a 2007 185 and there were three options 1) 3.0L carb 2) 4.3L carb or 3) 4.3L MPI. I believe the options were the same in 2006 as 2007. As well as I remember, the MPI version of the 4.3 was about an additional $3000, which is why I have the carb version. Either one would be a good engine though. The 4.3 makes it a really sporty boat.

Block, I was only going from memory, so I could be wrong. But I "thought" that the MPI engine became an option in the 185 (it was definitely available in the 195) a couple years later. Now, if you're correct that it was an option in 2007, then it's possible that a late production 2006 could have an MPI.

Marvel Shield guy... :smt001 ... If you can get me a HIN or an engine serial number I can check for you.

Thanks all - I have confirmed that it is the carb'd version of the 4.3 From what I have read/heard this is still a very good motor and well sized for the boat. Hoping to make an offer this weekend.

The boat actually does pretty decent with just the 4cyl - in fact, it actually has a slightly quicker hole shot than the lighter, 175 Sport of the same era. The 185, with the V6... you'll be very happy with it! Good luck!
