Whatever comes on my boat
I am very close to purchasing a 2005 Sundancer 340. One of the issues is the control of the windlass. The motor in the anchor system works fine but the controller is busted. And something about they don’t make parts for this anymore and so the fix is pretty expensive. Anybody have any idea what this is?

What exactly are the symptoms?

When you press the main anchor on the keypad does the light come on? If so can you control from foot switches at bow? Any other issues related to the same keypad?

When you say control unit are you referring to the contactor in the anchor locker?

Without knowing what the symptoms I can not comment on if this will probably fix it or not. This is the extreme case if the EIM and/or Keypads have failed. However there are other components that should be troubleshooted first - otherwise you could be out this money and still have a problem.

However since this is not your boat yet and if you are negotiating and cannot perform additionally troubleshooting I would look for a credit to cover the cost and install of this system along with the installation of a new windlass and controller -or- accept the purchase subject to the owner replacing these beforehand. For something like this I would rather have the credit and choose my installation partners for long term support and warranty.

+1 on Kevin. Exactly what I would do. These switch panels are basically non existent. Moving to the fp system i hear is not a bad change over so far as difficulty. Have read several club members have done it themselves. I think that last said it was about a 6 pack and a half of difficulty.
