Promocop, the 390 is a beautiful boat. I'm not in love with the look of the Cruisers. The 2005 will have more modern electronics and more recent versions of the engines.

I have been looking at the SR390 and the SR420. Sorry, but I can’t help you much here with the Cruisers, except to say that I can’t get used to the bulbous look of the hulls when compared to the fine lines of the SeaRays.
The 390 with diesels is somewhat rare in my area and seems to hold its value and thus commands a much higher price than the gassers. The 390 typically has the 380hp Cummins and the 420 the 417hp Cummins. Most say these are good fits for both boats. Right now I am “listing” heavily in favor of the 420 for the room it affords in the cockpit area, especially around the aft seating and the wider beam. If you are not in a hurry to buy, perhaps take a look at the SR420 and compare this with the Cruisers.

Probably right here. Cruisers designers seems to think like this also when you look at the new design of their 330 and 390. They look like copies of Sea Rays.....

We met a couple in the Abacos that owned a 50ft Cruisers. The fit and finish on the boat was awesome. The boat featured a full beam master stateroom, a dishwasher, a wide open layout. To me the workmanship and layout was certainly on par and in some areas better then 48DA or 52DA SeaRay. The owners chief complaint was that the boat performed poorly in a beam sea. This couple was traveling with a Tiara. The Tiara owners indicated the Cruisers pounded in beam seas forcing them to slow way down. Poor sea keeping is a deal breaker for me. Is this due to the "bulbous hull" shape referred to above? Is this typical for all Cruisers? I do not know. I guess the message is: be sure you sea trial in less then ideal boating conditions.

Probably due to the hull design. I was discussing Cruisers with my SeaRay salesman about a month ago (consider the source of this info, as he is trying to sell me a bigger boat) and he indicated that the sides of a Cruisers hull flare outward to make the cabins look much larger than other boats of the same size, but this adversely effects the performance. He claims SR boats are designed for the ride rather than the interior space. I guess this is perhaps the old form vs. function thing.

Passed on the Crusiers today...priced too high at 285k and a 8 yearold boat wityh no warrranty scared me. Sea Trialled the 390 and loved it...but...I got to tell you, it was not nearly as quick to respsond at sea unlike the Cruisers! It felt a bit sluggish at about 27 knots turning in circles burt smooth as glass at slower speeds just as quick in the respo0nsiveness depaetment as the cruisers...still looking

Not sure if this is aplicable in the sizes that you are looking at,
but in the smaller sizes (30 or 32), my observation is that Sea Rays are heavier, and slightly sleaker than Cruisers.
The Sea Rays sit deeper in the water due to the weight and taper of the hull, whereas the Cruisers sit more on top of the water.
Both good boats, (I've owned both), but the Sea Ray rides more solid.

thanks good info..Any idea about I felt the cruiser was a bit more nimble in the water then the SR?

does cruisers use prop pockets? if they do, probably not as drastic as SR. SRs tend to squat a bit more when getting up on plane. what about HP comparison and dry weight of both boats?

Promocop,
A member here, Rich122, I believe has a 390DA w/diesels for sale. Maybe you can pm him and see if it's still available.
Not sure if he's trading it in but it's worth a shot.
