Hello to all...
Brand new member... Just bought a 2005 390 Sundancer with the 8.1 SHO gas engines. Does any body have a fuel burn rate for this boat and best RPM.
I am bringing the boat up from MD to NY and trying to figure the refuel stops along the way.

Thanks

That is a sweeeett boat. :smt001 Welcome to the site Stu, glad you could make it.

According to boattest this boat at 3500rpm cruises at 23mph and burns close to 32 gph for a range of 177 miles with the 8.1's

I traveled with an '05 390 (soft top) this summer from South Central New Jersey to Baltimore Inner Harbor. He started full in Beah Haven, refilled in Wildwood, and fueled once more in Tollcheshter Maryland just before Baltimore IH. On the way back he fueled in Bohemia River and then again in Atlantic City before making his way home to Beach Haven. I would guess at least one more fuel stop to get to the NY Harbor.

Congrats Stu. Glad you finally joined in on this website. Great bunch of people and loaded with helpful info. Hope to see you at our homeport with the new boat soon. Maybe Lisa will sleep on this boat!!

I just re-read your original post and realized that you have the SHO engines...those are the 420HP 8.1s. They will burn more fuel than the 370HP 8.1s. My neighbor, who I travel with frequently, has the 420HP 8.1s in his '06 380DA with 3/4 hardtop and he generally averages .7 Statute MPG on trips....hope this helps, and good luck with the new boat....

Wow Stu way to go man!

Congradulations and best of luck.

We can't wait to check her out.

See you soon.

i am contemplating a 2005 Seayray 39Sundancer with Cummins. I also am looking at the same size Cruisers. Everything else being equa,l I have noticed one BIG difference betrween the two. The SR's nose rises much higher in the water then the Cruiser. I have heard that this is a charateric of SR's...true or no? Thanks

I have a buddy with that boat. He says at 3600 RPM he gets 19 MPH. .6 - .7 MPG sounds about right. I'm guessing the total fuel burn would be around 34 GPH.
