My 2005 340 refrigerator is not cooling. I put a digital thermometer in the Freezer and I'm getting 11 degrees but the refrigerator is on registering in the high 40's. How can this be? It's a Coolmatic RPD-0110U. Thanks!!!

Maybe a dumb question, but did you turn the knob all the way over so that it’s at max cool?

No such thing as a dumb question but yes I did. I just recently took the drip tray from the bottom of the freezer off to see if that will make a difference.

might be low on coolant, mine did the same thing. I had to install a bullet valve on low pressure side to add refrigerant.

Thanks. Had a tech out and he installed a valve and recharged. Didn't seem to help at all.

This is an odd approach to your problem, but one that has worked for us. Our cabin refrigerator was never really cold since we have owned the boat. Freezer worked fine. My wife accidently broke the plastic door cover to the freezer. Problem solved. Now the freezer still works fine (although we don't really have much need for it), but the refrigerator is perfectly cold. If you can remove the freezer door without damage you might see if this solves your problem. Another friend with the same boat tried it and it worked for them as well. Good luck.

I'll have to give this a try. I did notice if I take the plastic drip tray below the freezer this helped a little bit. I'll have to try what you suggested with the door as well.

Problem solved and I believe you just saved me from changing out my refrigerator. I removed the door and now my refrigerator temperature has dropped and remains consistently in the mid-30 degree range. Great suggestion and another reason I love this site. Thanks again!!!

Its a temporary fix though. Its not working properly so you should plan on a replacement. Also, if it is not cooling properly, then it will be consuming far more battery power while at anchor running on 12v. Lots of reasons to fix/replace a bad fridge.
