44 Sedan has twin Cummins 500's

My 2005 270AJ w/6.2 L B3 does maximum 34.1 mph per GPS & mechanical sensor. My dock buddy has a twin 2005 270 AJ w/350 B3 and does 40+.
Anyone with the same hull/engine care to comment?

First of all welcome to CSR............glad to have you on board.

My top end with the 350 mag is 38mph as measured by GPS. That's fairly typical for the 350 MAG from what I know. Our two boats are essentially the same although the AJ is a couple of hundred pounds lighter than the DA. So I would say you have a definite issue with your top end especially if you have the 6.2 motor.

Have you checked your prop pitch to see if it's correct? The 350 mag and the 6.2 use a 20P prop. The 496 uses a 22P prop. What is your engine RPM at top end?

What is your bottom condition?

At the end of last year, I let the boat sit for 4 weeks. At the end of that time. . . I lost 8-10 mph off of top hull speed. When the boat was pulled that day (end of season), the bottom was clean, but the props and outdrives had significant growth.

With props dressed, outdrives and bottom cleaned and painted. . .performance is back (except for a problem I posted in another thread).
