thanks. i guess you actually went on it? i saw it yesterday for the first time in a couple of weeks, and i a little surprised at how dirty it was.

they did a great job with the 450 - it really looks like new, and runs great. everyone who saw it yesterday thought it was a brand new boat.

i think the 380 is in great shape - a little clean-up, and it will be a great boat for somebody.

are you doing something with the 260?

I'm not sure yet. It's a bit more then I was looking to spend, what do you think would be a starting point to offer?

My 2 cents...If you can get that boat for around 65K it's a good price. A generator in a 260DA is rare, but you will definately need it where you live. We had a 2004 260DA and it had the same engine as the one you are considering. The 2004 models were a lighter boat (about 1000Lbs) and I think the 350 Mag was just O.K for that boat. I think the newer ones would be better with the 8.1 liter 375 HP. If that engine was an option on the 04's I would have went with it. The only other engine choice at that time was a 6.2 liter which the majority of people on the old SeaRay forum and other forums told me wouldn't be worth the extra cost. There are a few here with that same model and engine configuration who I'm sure will chime in. Whatever you decide make sure you fully load the boat with water, fuel and passengers and take it on a sea trial before you decide if it's acceptable to you. Good luck, Brian P.S, I didn't see a windlass on the option list. Make sure it has one.

I also tend to think that something less than $70K ought to buy that boat. But a lot of other factors are at work here including demand for the 260 which is very high (at least in our area) I would certainly make them an offer if you are interested. You have nothing to loose.

Good luck.

Yea the salesman gave me a price of $69,000 right off the bat, so I'm not sure how much lower I should go.

That depends on what options are on the boat. That ad lists just some of the basic otions like the fact it has a generator. I can tell it doesn't have a Chartplotter or a DVD player from the photos but that's about it. Does it have a TV, windlass, upgraded stereo, spotlight, swim platform lights, etc, etc.? If you are unsure of the possible options, go to Sea Ray's web site and print a list of them from the 2006 configurator and ask the dealer http://www.searay.com/configurator.asp?pmid=54021&tab=0&

If it's a sparsely equipped boat you may want to offer substantially less than what they are asking.

Yea it didn't have a windlass, tv, chartplotter and so I'm having them e-mail me the boat info when it was purchased. I'm thinking of giving a offer, but trying to decide if I should or wait for another 260 with generator to come up.

Even without a windlass and GPS, $69K w/generator seems like a fine price to me given the engine has only 40 hours on it. Be sure to have the boat surveyed, of course. With the added weight of the genset, the boat may be under-powered with the 350 Mag.

Our boat, with the 260 hp 5.7L has about the same power-to-weight ratio as the 2005 with the 300 hp 350. We have a generator, and the boat still has plenty of power. I wouldn't mind the extra power of a larger motor, but the boat performs well. Of course, you won't be able to take six adults out water skiing....

Jeff

Our 260 has the 300 hp 5.7 and a generator. It does just fine with myself, my wife and our son on it. We had 6 adults and 3 kids on it once and it did ok. If you are looking at that a 240 I would go with the 260 just for the generator!!

If you have any specific questions just let me know!!

If it were me I would look for another one with more options. Based on what you mentioned, it looks like a lightly optioned boat and because of that it is way overpriced in my opinion. I think they will have a hard time moving that boat because it doesn't have many options regardless of whether it has a Genny or not.

The problem with it not having certain options is you may want to add them later so that could cost big bucks. For instance, the factory installed TV is built in to the ceiling on mine. It also has an antenna on the arch.........and if you add a TV you should add a DVD player. Again mine is built in. A chartplotter like my Navman is pretty expensive to purchase too. For a dash mounted unit like mine, it also requires the GPS antenna to be mounted on the arch. Your only other alternative is a portable or something mounted on top of the dash with the antenna. You can do without the windlass but it sure is nice to have one.

Have you considered a new one? With Sea Ray rebate money about to expire at the end of February, you may have to act fast to get the rebate but you may also be able to get a terrific deal as well because of that. Somewhere within the vast empire of Marine Max they should have a new 260DA configured the way you want it. Maybe they even have leftover 2006 models too which could be even a better deal.

I agree I think their asking too much, because the options that the boat lacks. We were thinking about the 280, but I think the 260 will be better for us at this time. I do need the generator, being that we live in Florida. It would nice to have radar, gps/fishfinder and also tv. I was thinking about low balling them, because of the options Not On the Boat. Keep your comments coming and soon enough I'll be back to owning a Searay.

The tv and antenna are simple add ons and not expensive. I wouldn't let them become deal breakers though you could use them for leverage. The flip down tv is very small anyway, you could easily fit a 13 or 15 inch flatpanel and dvd players are now small enough to fit anywhere. The windlass is the only missing option that I wouldn't consider a do it yourself item.

Talking about electronics what brand and model do people use on their Searay's? Looking for radar, gps/FF and flip down tv/dvd. Also still would like to know what you would pay for this particular Searay 260?

My 300 has the Raymarine C70 with radar, chartplotter and fishfinder. With the modular design, you can purchase all three components or just start with the GPS and perhaps the fishfinder and add the Radar later.

If you have the entire system with the best transducer and Navionics gold chip installed, this will likely be around $5,500 - $6,500. I don’t recall the 260 having a spot in the helm for the base unit monitor to be installed. You will likely need use the bracket mount somewhere clearly visible.

Yea they aren't going to budge from the price they have set on this boat. So I guess I'm continue the hunt. It's fun searching and looking at all the different models and brands.
