After many years away from boating my wife and I purchased a 2004 - 240 Sundancer early this summer and just love it! Anyway, wanting to trailer the boat to some other locations other then on the river, I purchased a used 26 ft EZ Loader trailer with rollers, brakes, tandem rear, 8000 GVWR... all-in-all really nice trailer for a good price. However, I'm not sure the trailer will work with the boat (though I think it should with (if needed) a bit of adjustment). I'm planning to spend some time and several hundred dollars on the trailer over the winter months to get ready for sping boating season... is there any easier way to determine if a boat will fit a trailer other then trial and error (with adjusting) at the boat ramp or at the marina while the boats in a craddle? Is there any trailer (roller and bunk) layouts for a 240 Sundacer that will help determine how the trailer needs to be set up (roller orientaion between the strakes and at stake spacing) for the boat? Any help, suggestions or just as a sounding board is greatly appreciated. Thanks, ghetts

I did contact (by phone and email) the EZ Loader company and they were very nice... they suggested the trial and error method at the boat ramp, which I rather not do unless absolutely necessary or at least until I have an idea of how the boat might fit the (rollers) trailer. The only thing I know about the trailer before I purchased it was used to trailer a 26 ft. runabout...

Do you have any idea if it was a deep v or deck boat style runabout?

Why dont' you find the ez loader dealer in you area and have them do the adjustments for you. Those roller trailers seem to be self adjusting

welcome to the site, be sure to put the boat info in your signature.

there is some info on their website including owners manual and brochures. Maybe than can help. EZ Loader web site

I did contact my ez loader dealer in town and he basically said to he could sling the boat in the spring and lower it on the trailer to see how everything looks... and that's probably what I will have done in the spring, but probably at the marina where its stored. Again I was just hoping to kind of make sure it will work before I invest too much time and money this winter getting it ready for spring, but that just may not be possible.

Also, everyone thanks for the welcome I've received being new to this site... everyone's been great.

ghetts,

those trailers are adjustable, in multiple areas. I don't think you'll have too much problem with the rollers, as they provide much more range.

Welcome back to boating! and to CSR.

You might give Sea Ray a call. They can tell you where the bunks/rollers should support the hull and may have angles or dimensions to go with it. That might get your support rollers closer to where they need to be?

Everyone, thanks for the great input. I think I will try to contact Sea Ray about the 240 Sundancer boat structure and if they have particular locations where the rollers should match up on the hull to carry the load. I know from my conversations with EZ Loader that Sea Ray is not a OEM account, so they do not share a lot of information. So more then likely I will probably try my local Sea Ray dealer to see if they can work with me to get the rollers set to receive the boat. If the Sea Ray guys in town can't do it for whatever reason, then I'll work with my marina guys in the spring while they have the boat in the sling to see if we can't get it done then. In the mean time, I think I'll still plan to refurbish the trailer as my winter project and hopefully have everything ready for next spring. Thanks again for all the great information and suggestions, it's greatly appreciated... Ken

We don't have rollers on our trailer. A friend does. He tells a funny story of the boat rolling off the trailer because the strap wasn't hooked and wound up tight. Luckily, his boat, when it rolled off from just the force of gravity, rolled back into the water.
