2003 Depth Transducer

Has anyone replaced their Airmar P17 depth transducer with a Garmin? Or any other relevant experience?

I installed a Garmin 8610XSV and plan to go with the Garmin GDT-43 speed/depth transducer and i'm just wondering if i will need to replace the housing itself or if the GDT-43 will fit in the one from the P17.

I've called Garmin and Airmar with no help so far

The housings are different. The P19 has a screw on top ring to retain the transducer and the Garmin has a cam arrangement. They are both made by Airmar. The installation instructions for the GDT43 are on the Garmin web site.
