Looking for some help. I believe the leak is from a failed gasket at the turbo. Is this repair a simple detach and reset with a new gasket? Are there areas to be concerned about? I have not been able to observe the actual coolant leak, just the visible signs as indicated in the photos. Is this a repair to call in the mechanic? Thanks

Can't help much there except that if it were me I'd take it off and look at it. Then call in mechanic if needed. I recently replaced the bolts and gasket at the mixing elbow side. So I know that end is real easy for disassembly/assembly. I have also replaced coolant banjo fitting washers, so that connection is easy as well. I also have disconnected both oil input and drain connections so also very easy. I just haven't done the main gasket. Sbmar has all the gaskets, washers and bolts you would need.

I take it you are positive it's not coming from that black coolant inlet hose fitting.

I just got the gaskets and new elbow bolts (am told they are easier to just replace than salvage). I am not positive it is not the black inlet hose. I may take it off to get a closer look, but there is nothing obvious visually. I ran the engines but have not been able to replicate the leak. This is a very recent event. Thanks

I'd recommend you give the motors a good engine shampoo, then put dye in the coolant and watch. I've chased coolant leaks before and where you see the evidence now may not be where it's coming from. Also tighten every clamp on the coolant lines. They shrink over time.

Also, I recently had a coolant leak that would only leak when the motors and hoses cooled off but the cooling system was still pressurized. Wouldn't leak while warm and running. Drove me crazy. Was a loose clamp way hidden up in that I had to be a contortionist to get at. Again, dye made it obvious. Best $20 I spent. I keep an extra bottle of it now on the boat.
