Hi all,
(Title should say bow not bor!)
New to this site and Sea Ray but not new to boating.
I'm currently looking at two boats on-line.
Checking to see if anyone can give me the difference between the 2 and pros and cons of each.
Both boats have around 200 hours.
The boats:
2002 Sea Ray 200BR, 5.0 MPI 260 hp
2003 Sea Ray 200SL, 5.0, 220 hp

Normally I would say that the extra HP is worth the extra year, but I'm not sure what else the differences are.
I'll use the boat for watersports. I have read about problems maintaining low speeds. Is this the case with these two?

Thanks.
Tom

Do you mean a "2003 200 SD". In other words, are you comparing the regular bowrider to a Sundeck?

Keeping apples to apples, the bowrider will perform better than the Sundeck. More weight is pushed further back in the Sundeck as people sit on the engine. In the bowrider, people sit in front of the engine - this will help your planing speed and your hole shot.

If your main goal is watersports, the 200 Bowrider is your choice - especially seeing as it has more HP and is fuel injected.

However, the Sundeck offers more "dancing room" in the cockpit and the bow.

With a normal load, both boats do well at maintaining slow speeds, around 20mph. Slower if the load is lighter and you keep the trim down.

Nope, the two adds were written exactly as I wrote them. That is why I was confused. Looking at the pictures, both boats are identical and looking at the specs sheets on Sea Ray's web site, the 2002 and 2003 are identical.
So my question would be is there something that I'm missing between the 2002 and 2003.
How is the 260 vs the 220 hp achieved?

Thanks.

The 220HP is a carb'd engine. The 260HP is fuel injected.

OK, in that case the person that wrote the ad is probably incorrectly using the term "SL" to refer to "Select", even though Sea Ray didn't use that terminology in that year.
