Good day members. I read some replies within other posts (thanks) so figured i narrow this down:

Im in the middle of looking at several options and one them is a boat that used to have a generator but its is no longer there/functioning. Some say installation is a not a good idea but then again, dont most used boats get this done enevntually?

On same note, these earays may have reverse water intake issues. Is this something that can be surveyed or what a good way of figuring this out pre-purchase?

Some find the cost of a new genny to be too costly to justify, but you will want to get a similar reduction in price for a boat without a working one. Boats without them definitely take longer to sell since many boaters won't consider one of this caliber without the option. Fewer buyers = lower prices.

Reversal water injestion issues were from 380hp 454 engines. A 2001 340 may not even have 454's but 496 engines (totally different plants). The older 454's had significant valve overlap which caused the pulsing at idle in the exhaust that caused water to be sucked back into the risers and down to the exhaust valves. It was especially problematic with the old "log" type exhaust systems. In newer 340's they solved much of the issue by installing water lift mufflers.
