Can anyone tell me if the screens covering the water intakes on a 2001 340 Sundancer are bonded to the Zinks? I had a guy check my boat, and he said that everything appeared to be bonded correctly inside the boat. However divers that maintain the bottom of my boat indicated that the screens on the intakes had a lot of corrosion on them. Also, can anyone confirm that the screens are infact needed, as it appears that the intakes also have the clam shell screens underneath the outer screens. Appreciate any help with this.

Not sure exactly what you are referring to?
Going to assume for a moment you have V drive, inboards with thru hole raw water pickups.
And these have a clam shell AND screens?
like these...

Yes the scoop screens at the bottom of your post are what I am referring too. They have corrosion on my boat and the questions that I have are 1) are these bonded via the zinc system and 2 are their claim shell strainers underneath them?

I'm trying to determine if I even need the screens on the scoops or if I can just remove them. I am assuming that they are not bonded cause I see no bolts for them coming through the hull inside.

I would also guess they are not if you have no machine screw inside the boat for them. Typically they would be used over a simple thru hull fitting

Its always possible it was added over a clam shell style. Only way to tell would be remove the screen

You dont list a location where you boat.
The screens would be most helpful in weedy grassy locations.

That's interesting. My seacocks do not have external screens at all. They just have the internal strainer baskets which I would think should be sufficient.
