2001 340 da campain QUESTION

i boughta 340 da used and checked the dealer for outstanding recalls, they saide there was a recall that was repaired called water rail replacement WHAT IS THAT ???

If it has Horizon engines it could be changing the log atyle manifolds to the ones with the riser to stop water intrusion into the exhaust?
That is one folks have been telling me about lately.:huh:

dose anyone have a pic of the new risers??? or repair the is also a open recall on the pcm and the harness ???? im thinking of staying away from this boat??? Tell me something good ??? i need help

are these the new or old manifolds my manifolds are round on the boat im looking at has 8.1s, with a built date of 4 of 01, and sold 9 of 01, mine look like this

NOT LIKE THE LOWER ONES WITH THE TWO ENGINE SHOWING

Sorry, but the angle on the pictures is tough for me (see Scott - you're not the only one with eye problems).

The top picture looks like 8.1 Horizons with the correct barrel shaped "Water Lift" mufflers.

The bottom picture looks like a 7.4 with the horizontal "Log" mufflers that were troublesome on the 8.1 Horizons (and the 5.7s as well).

I do not know if they were a problem on the 7.4 engines pictured in your bottom picture. The problem had to do with an agressive cam overlap that allowed water to be sucked into the exhaust valves causing corrosion and hydrolocking of the engine. As I said, I do not know if the 7.4s had this cam overlap problem - sorry.

Also, when you said: "... boat im looking at has 8.1 buikt 4 of 01 sold 9 of 01", did you mean - "...the boat that I'm looking at has 8.1s. It was built in April of '01 and sold in Sept of '01"?

The 2000 340 I am looking at has the 7.4's. The surveyor I have said the recall was on the Horizons only and not on standard 7.4's. I am inclined to believe him.:huh:

thanks for the responce sorry for the miss spelling (CARTERCHAPMAN )(your right in the translation ) Im surprised that searay didnt put a coffeee maker in these boats most others do, or did i miss it. Also what kind of speeds can i expect with the 8.1s. What is the 2001-16 campain/recall (electonic control module)what does it effect ??

Don't sweat the spelling, just use ieSpell - you can get it here free: http://www.iespell.com/download.php. Your coffee maker may be built in to your microwave - I don't know what year they did that, but '03 and up 340's have it.

I'll let some one with an '01 answer your speed and ECM recall campaign questions. You are lighter than my '05, so you should be north of the 27 mph cruise (3350 rpm) and 37 mph top speed (4800 rpm) that I get with full fuel, full water and 4 people onboard.
