2001 280 Sundancer, 4.3's, Alpha Gen II's, with optional trailer

With the right truck in front, it's really not that bad to tow. I've done a 280 (long distance) a good half dozen times. One of our customers ONLY trailered his (V8's) - and he went all over the place. Wasn't shy about it, either. Black, 4-door, 8' bed dually with a white checkered flag down the side. The boat was white with a black checkered flag down the side.

That makes me feel good about mine. I paid $49,000 for it a year ago. No genny but 5.0's and FWC, windlass, spot light and factory installed radar. I felt good about it...

As much as we stay on the hook, the genny was pretty necessary. The windlass has spoiled me, and the mattress has spoiled us! Since I do all my own work, I like the room that the V6's give you. Since you do not have a genny, I was curious what was in that area?

I am trying to offer this up at a fair price, especially for CSR members. Its not a short sale, divorce or bankruptcy sale, just looking to go bigger!

Sounds like a cool rig. I know its doable, just for us, a slip is the best way. Hop on and go, or hop on and hang out!

No argument here - hop on and hang out is much more enticing! This guy just liked going to different places.

For me, yes, the Chesapeake is my favorite place. But he went all over the east coast... inland lakes, the Bay, Jersey shore, and more. But, yeah - the Chesapeake offers plenty and I don't think I'd ever get bored there.

I mentioned this above, but I know that not everyone reads through an entire thread. The price this boat is offered at is VERY fair - assuming no major issues, this is a really good deal. Especially since it has a genny. Twin V6's are plenty of power for the boat. I should mention that I do not know Mike, nor the boat - I have absolutely zero vested interest in this. Just offering an opinion (based on a couple decades of experience) for the sake of a fellow CSR member.

Thanks, Yes, there are so many places we want see, especially in the Chesapeake, and beyond (one day hope to do the loop, or at least the East Coast).

Thanks for the comment. I personally feel I have gone above at keeping this boat maintained properly. (Replaced both engines when one had burnt valves, replaced transom assembly when my steering pin started dripping, replaced all manifolds/risers when one showed signs of corrosion, bought a trailer 2 load capacities up from required) We use it too much, and go too far to take any chances on breakdowns, or the safety of my family and friends.

Boating should be fun and enjoyable, breaking down on the water is not.
Sorry for the rambling.
Mike

$42 large w trailer is a great deal for this rig. IMHO she is a bit shy for my liking, however, she is the best of both worlds. A friend trailered his mid 90's 280 from Louisiana to Virginia to do the upper Great Loop. A few months later his trailer was transported to Chicago to pick up the boat. He trailered her back to Louisiana. He went all over the southern US with that boat behind his truck, took many trips and trailered her back. He sold her last year for the high $30's.

Many boating mags have done studies that peg the best boat one could own between 27 & 29 feet with all the amenities this SR has.

A gennie is is a HUGE plus.

Good luck!

Thanks David, I feel it is a good price, or at least a good starting point. I do not really trailer it, other than from home to the marina, which is about 10 miles, Spring and Fall. I will say the trailer is great for those mid season power washes and drive fluid changes.

You are right, we picked the 280 because it had all the big boy toys (Twins, Genny, AC, Windlass, decent beam, stand up head, Norcold Frig, nice swim platform), but yet still able to put it on a trailer and bring it home for the winter and occasional hurricane warning. We are just looking more extended trips, and looking at the upper 30's.

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas!
Mike

Just told broker to drop price to 41, and include the trailer. I know everyone is looking at the classifieds today, I know I am. It is too dang cold outside to do anything else!!
Mike

Good looking boat Mike. Good price point with all the new things replaced.

Good luck with the sale.
