2001 230BR newbie

Go to my Profile for CSR and I have an album of the boat. Those pics are from when I bought it. Also, I post pics of us boating on a regular basis on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/ron.quinn Friend me if you are on.

As for the lights, I will get more the week after Memorial Day as I am pulling the boat to replace the 2 on there now and add 2 more.

We love our 230, 2007 model... No real big issue here...
Its now kept on a lift... We got our 8 year old up this weekend on a wakeboard... "230 Select..Making Memories":smt038

That's awsome!!! I plan to attempt teaching my 7 year old how to get up boarding this weekend - any hints? He does well on snowboard and skateboard so I figure he should pick it up quick once I get him up.

Finally got a break in the weather and spent the day on the water. Here are some pics of our "new to us" 2001 230BR.

Sweet! Thanks for sharing. I think the '01 230's had very few colored hulls ... I like it.

Thanks. I am very pleased with the boat and the get up and go for pulling but dissapointed in the top end. With the 5.7 BIII I see about 42mph tops - what do you get with the 7.4?

mdutton, I am surprised you get only 42. I get 52 to 53 top end with a 5.7 BIII. Sometimes need to get the trim tabs "just so" for that, but 50 comes easy.

I haven't run WOT on the lake ...yet. I have got to 45-50 once thus far very easy and very quickly. Out of the hole we are on plane in just a few seconds (less than 5) and I have to pull back.

I like the gas though.

I have to do some research on the RPM's. I know at about 30-35 MPH I am at 3200-3400 RPM's. I want to ensure I am running thsi boat right in this lake.

Agreed that 42 is a little low at WOT. Mdutton, what rpms are you running for WOT?

Antso,
Are you getting 52 through GPS or through your speedometer?

My top end is 46-47

Ran it WOT the other day with just myself and properly trimmed I see 47mph by GPS. I am amazed at how touchy the trim is on this machine - apparently a finely tuned boat needs a finely tuned driver!

It is by speedometer, which I realise may be generous, but it is all I have to go by for now. Will have GPS in a couple weeks and see how it compares.

It is really sensitive to the trim tabs - makes a 3-4 mph difference by how they are set.
