Hello, my cabin refrigerator stopped cooling today. it is a Norcold DE441. The fridge seems to be running but not cooling at all. Is it worth trying to replace the compressor or buying a new fridge? Also Is there any fridge out there that is a direct replacment so I dont have to modify anything to make it work?

So you figure your fridge is about 18 years old? To rebuilt the refrigerator, with parts and labor, is Not cheap, expect around $800.00 +-. A new one cost around 1k. If it was me. I'd be looking at new.

Yes, I think thats the best idea. Any recommendation for a direct replacment?

Welcome to CSR!

If it was me I'd get rid of the Norcold. The newer compressors make a world of difference. Much quieter, efficient and worth the money. Vitrifrigo made a drop in replacement for my fridge they might have one for your model as well. The mounting flange was what made it a direct replacement.

The flange had to be ordered separately.

I think if you do a quick search you'll find an exact model/replacement... and check your local west marine store. They usually have it in stock. Or, my fave, Amazon. Lol

Thank you for the info.
