I recently purchased a 2000 Sea Ray 180; noticed the sun deck had a lot of play around the hinge, until one day it basically separated completely (fortunately in the garage as I was wrenching on the engine). So my wife and I completely rebuilt it, using marine grade plywood, and using all of the original covering and foam. Took about 7 hours and cost about $150 in plywood, glue, staples, etc. A pneumatic or electric stapler is mandatory, and I used about 800. We have re upholstered a few chairs before, but this was several grades harder, but I would definitely do it again. If you have decent woodworking skills and patience (and in my case an interested wife), then definitely take it on. Should be good for a few more years...
