2000 410 Sundnacer

Who has replaced their 410DA fridge?

What make and model?

Any gotchas?

Not yet but I like the Vitrifrigo stainless model like on the 380 thread you participated in. I have replaced the fans in the back of my Nevercold to quiet it down. We keep the unit running full time so I don't have to bring food stuff down every weekend and it has held up so far. I think it will be easier to replace in the 410 because of the swinging door.

I think I am going to pull the trigger on the DP2600iAC from Vitrifrigo. I put a thermometer in the Nevercold and when I went to read it a couple of days later it read 51.9 degrees and the thing wa son the coldest setting. That is not a safe way to keep food.

The previous owner of my boat replaced the fridge last year (assume the original Norcold) with a Nova Kool. I'm not sure of the model but it stays very cold. We keep a thermometer inside all the time and it often times dips below 32° on the 5-6 setting (it goes up to 7) if the door is closed for an extended period. We also keep it running at all times in order to keep food on board and put the setting around 4.

Thanks, everyone for the holding tank filter advice. I'll be doing that this weekend--I'm 5'9" and about 175, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem getting back there!

Thanks. Let me look at them. Does it appear that they had to make any modifications to the trim about the opening or the fridge door?

Oh, you can get back there. You may need some help getting back out...

FYI
Removing the exhaust tube is not too big of a project and helps a bunch with access to the back corners of the boat. Use some dish detergent when you put it back together and it will slip right in.

And BEFORE you remove the exhaust tubes, make a large mark around the outside of the stainless tube where the rubber is. Use a big red magic marker. That way you will be able to tell it's all the way back on where it was when you started.

Nope...appears no modifications were made at all so it should fit right in.

My model has the fridge on top and freezer on the bottom if that's an issue for you. I find it makes more sense for us since we are in and out of the fridge more often than the freezer. Looking at the website, it appears to be the RFU9000: http://www.novakool.com/products/two_doors/large_image_popups/rfu9000.htm

With the CAT's he can just climb around the back of the engine, no need to remove the exhaust tube. I remove them for other things like battery replacement, starboard side impeller & water hose replacement, etc.

I replaced the Norcold in my 400EC with with a Novacool. It was an exact fit and ran perfectly for the remaining 7 years I owned the boat. Mine had the freezer on the bottom and the frig on the top and we much preferred that.

Bryan doesn't have CATs, he has the 8.1s

Thanks all... Had to contort a bit but changed the filter with no problems. No need to remove exhaust tubes. Getting back out WAS the hardest part!
