I was in that very slip 2009, we try to get out for all the "fall/winter" holidays at Champlins.
BTW I told Joe"Havana Shamrock" about your boat being for sale, I think he is considering a 410.

I think you are talking about my boat with 1,000 hours. We have owned it for 10 years and have put all but 65 of these hours on it. Over the years we have always done scheduled maintenance early on the engines and have had no issues with them. They have always run great. The years we don't take it south (Tennessee / Alabama), we put about 35 hours on them so the oil/filters are changed about every 35 hours. The boat has a cruising range of about 195 miles at 25 - 27. In 10 years we have had to repair 1 refridge compressor, 1 vhf and replaced canvas. Swapped out CRT TV's with LCD's. Very dependable, handles great and well built boat.

Thanks for the reply. Sounds like your boat is in great shape. Still trying to sell mine, but it feels like I am getting close!

Does anyone know the overall height of the 410 Sundancer? I am asking because I am likely to buy one that is out of state and want to get some ideas of shipping costs. Thanks!

You can look on Searay.com or any shipping company will know when you call for pricing

If it's outside of the Great Lakes, do what you have to do, but I no longer recommend shipping when a boat trip is an option. In the past I've made the arguments that new buyers don't know the boat yet, it isn't proven, etc., but then their boat arrives late, filthy, damaged, over-budget and the chance of a great experience was wasted.

Thanks, I'll see what I can find online. I'd love to take a boat trip, but I don't have two weeks to take and it would cost me about double to bring it up via waterways than it would to ship.

12'9" from the keel to the top of your arch. All I had to do is remove the radar array.

Thank you! That's good to know that it doesn't require removal of any other structures. Just curious... did it arrive in good condition? How much did you pay per mile? Thanks!

Not per mile but I paid $2,500 with me as chase car from Newport Beach to Stockton , CA. The travel distance was right around 385 miles so that's about $6.50 per mile. No damage done during transport but she looks way better now!

Tcamba,

I sent you a PM.

So I put in an offer (accepted) on a 2003 410 Sundancer and flew down with my wife to Florida to view it today (we are from Michigan). Survey and engine inspection scheduled for tomorrow.

Unfortunately, I couldn't get past the cockpit. The boat was trashed. I figured there would be some issues with a salt water boat, but this thing was in a complete state of neglect. I can't understand how people don't take care of their things. The kicker is that it was docked behind a $3 million dollar home. How much is it to ask to hire someone to maintain it if you are in a situation where you can't do it yourself? The broker really wasted my time and money on this one. The silver lining is that instead of a survey and sea trial tomorrow, my wife and I get a day on the beach!

Florida is a big place with lots of boats for sale. Go look at some while you are here and then make an offer. You folks from the north seem to think boat buying can be done by remote control. If you make offers on boats you have never seen in person, you must expect some disappointments along the way. What one broker calls above average, a demanding buyer may call junk, and photographs can be of other boats, 3 years old taken the last time the boat was for sale (and detailed), and even photoshopped for your viewing pleasure.

Sorry you struck out on this one..........

That is horrible to hear but I do agree with Frank, why not go start looking at some other boats while you are there?

For what its worth, I think I found the boat you were looking at on Yachtworld. It looks like a dog to me from my computer in Michigan..... I can only imagine what you found there. Freshwater boaters are spoiled.

I have only seen a handful of boats that came from down south in Salt that have been anywhere near up to par with a even remotely taken care of freshwater boat like we have up here. Keep lookin!

You really need to put the rubber on the road and take a personal look at boats. Even then you can't tell everything but at least you'll weed out the no go's right off the bat.

There are plenty of excellent saltwater boats down here. I think a lot of owners under estimate the amount of care and maintenance a boat takes in the salt water/salt air and Florida sun. They decide to give up rather than do the work or spend the money and those are the ones that end up changing hands frequently. Those of us who are serious about keeping up with the maintenance are hard core boaters and our boats are not for sale, so you don't ever see them......... unless you come for a visit.
