in the process of purchasing a 380 sundancer. The couch doesn't move at all. Breaker will trip eventually. Assuming the motor is locked up or bad. What is the process to get to the motor? how do I disconnect the mechanism to manually pull the couch out to get to the motor?

Thanks in advance
Chris

Hi Chris. Does your motor move the bed at all? If it does, you may want to try what others have experimented with on CSR. I have not tried this myself but here is a large jack-screw under the bed that can sometimes rust to the point of locking up. If you are able to manually move the bed, you could try some penetrating oil on the jack-screw if it is corroded. Just make sure you have something under there to catch the drips.

Good luck, the 380DA is a great boat.

Thanks Vince, it doesn't move at all. I am in the survey process, just trying to figure out how to access it in the couch position, and if anyone has tried with any success. I told the salesman to have someone pull out at the try to operate the couch and see if it moves at all with help

Thank you
Chris

I can't help with the function of the couch but I can offer my two cents on the overall "impact" of it not working. In practice using the couch as a sleeping area ranks somewhere between "annoying" and "quite frustrating". I'd personally want to negotiate a few thousand off the purchase price for the couch repair but I'd probably never repair it.

A buddy needing a place to crash will sleep just as well on the couch in the up position. Give 'em a pillow, a blanket and one last cocktail. Everybody wins. If you intend to use the couch to sleep on every weekend....prepare yourself to deeply dislike it.

I appreciate it, 2 of my friends have the 2000 380 and they actually prefer sleeping there. I just like things , as much as possible to work as original, or better. I doubt we have a ton of people stay out with us, but it's the novelty of pushing a couple buttons and watching it make into a bed. Hoping it's just stuck....

Mine is a manual pull out so I like that nothing can break down!

I have seen the salon couch s manual, I didn’t realize the mid-cabin was, interesting

From what I was told they come electric as standard but this was an "option" that the original owner chose. Makes it much easier to access the water heater.

Chris, the jack screw(s) that run the couch are probably rusted. oil them and try again after the oil soaks a bit. There is an access panel on the front of the couch. You can turn the screw with a set of vice grips...carefully to get it started.

I should do this today. Mine works fine, but a bit jerky/noisy.

Chris where was the wire lose? Mine goes down fine but putting it up takes a combination of hitting the button about 50 times and resetting the breaker 20 times. Annoying when I have ppl come.

I am assuming on the control panel, I don’t know for sure. It was fixed from the survey before I closed on it. But at one point mine was operating in reverse afterwards and I switched the wires there, iirc

I'm having a hard time understanding why one would push on a switch 50 times and reset a breaker 20 times. Sorry.
