2000 340 Sundancer refrigerator

Nova Kool 5810 or 5812 will fit. They fit from the top down - not straight through the door. Saw some other posts on a Vitrigo (spelling not exact)

Great unit, very quite.

You have to pull the back off the old unit and the door to get it out - its awkward but it will fit

Good luck

+1 on the Nova Kool 5810!

Did you ever get it replaced? I am in the same boat no pun intended! I think I am going with the Vitrifrigo they make a trim kit for it. Maybe Nova Kool does too I just don't know. Just wondering how your install went?

The Vitrifrigo Fridge with flange kit fit nice no trimming at all. Make sure you put the black trim that's under the counter on first . Then drill the new holes for flange. It fits right through door after you take the flange off that comes with it. You have to take the compressor unit off the old one to get it out of boat.

Just to follow up. I just replaced the DE441 in my 2000 Sea ray 340.
Vitrifrigo and the flange kit listed fit perfect.

Since they don't come with directions I will help on a few minor things.

When you get the Vitrifirgo there are two stock flange pieces that need removing. The big one that goes around the top and two sides. I think 9 screws and it comes off. Then there is a flat piece on the top with a couple of screws. All that comes off.

The new flange kit will will screw on to the fridge and when it is about lined up with the front you will see tiny predrilled holes you can run the screws to the top and sides flange piece in on mine they lined up.

However the piece on the bottom didn't line up with the predrilled pilot holes so I had to drill pilot holes. This is the most time consuming part. Just getting the top piece square up and drilling the holes in the bottom. Once it's good though it goes right in no problem. Just make sure you get the fridge squared up in the hole and you will have to drill new holes for the flange to screw to the boat.

Remember too if you put the fridge on it's side don't turn it on for 12 or 24 hours. (check the manual) So it's easiest to take all the stock trim off the fridge and assemble the new flange kit and get everything set up on deck. Then take the new flange off and drop it into the cabin you can wire up the DC and plug it in and wire tie up the slack in the cables, set it halfway in the hole then screw the flange kit back on, set it in, square it up and drill and screw in new mount holes.

Also you will need new wood screws. The ones I took out wouldn't work with the new flange because the old screws had some weird flare under the screw head so they wouldn't counter sink properly. So you may wanna pull a screw out prior to doing it and get some new ones at Home Depot.

So the tools needed are
Screw gun/philips head screwdriver
wire stripers and crimpers
2 butt connecters (for DC power)
nut driver (don't remember size but its to disassemble old fridge to get out the door)
small drill bits/drill
That's all I can remember.

Pretty simple job I did it in a couple hours.
If I had to do it again I could easily do it in an hour.

I also installed the Vitrifrigo. Easily made it down through the cabin door and nice fit, with flange kit. Fridge is awesome; good quality fit and finish. Outside dimensions are smaller than original ref., but interior room is more. It is super quiet and has nice LED interior light.

Great Post. thank you.
I bought the fridge last summer and it is excellent. It went in so easy and took the door off and it had plenty of room to slide in.
The freezer is ice cold and will keep ice and food frozen.
i was going to make a custom trim piece instead of the factory flange kit. Now I bough tthe flange kit and am going to install it today. Thanks for the tips and I will hopefully knock this out in short order before the game later. Come on spring!!!

This is a great thread. I have a 2000 Sundancer 340 and my original fridge just died. I see everyone recommending the Nova Kool or the ventrifrigo. Does Anyone have the exact model number Or part numbers that I would need for a direct replacement?

Look at the Vitrifrigo brand. I put one in mine and love it. More space, better compressor, quiet and has a light inside. They made a flange for mine that eliminated the need to frame around the opening in case the new fridge was a bit smaller.

The link below might help you to remove the old unit from your boat

Will the nova Kool R5810 fit through the door of a Sundancer 340?

I can tell you the factory fridge fit thru the door of my 330 after unbolting the trim around it. It was fun.

I've been following this thread as my cockpit fridge quit working.
I took it home and checked it out, and it does have 13 volts where it goes into the compressor.
The compressor doesn't even try to come on.
I'm guessing it's toast.
Its a Norcold DE0040.

Pleasevtty to connect 12v DC directly to the compressor. If the compressor runs the problem is in the thermistor assembly. I made a new one with a rheostat and rocker switch I had kicku g around . I was able to fit it into the original housing with a little handiwork . A sharp chisel to take away some plastic nubs in the box and a coping saw blade to make a rectangular hole for the switch where it was round for a toggle prior..30 min work and voila frudgevworks great. My only issue was the rheostat I used is backwards to the original and now 1 is the coldest setting instead of 5. I posted some pics on here back in late may

OK, I'll give that a try. Thank you.

I hooked a battery directly to the compressor and it does nothing.
So I would think that the compressor is bad, no?
